  • Milo Baughman Drum Coffee Table
    dwr.com
“Furniture that is too obviously designed,” said Milo Baughman, “is very interesting, but too often belongs only in museums.” While we could certainly see his Drum Table (1970s) in a museum, it would earn its place there for its simplicity and lack of unnecessary ornamentation. Distilling the idea of an occasional table to its simplest form, Baughman’s cylindrical design draws you in with its smoothness and warmth. It features seams that are painstakingly welded, ground and polished by hand until they blend in as much as possible. Once constructed, Drum is coated with bronze, oxidized and hand-relieved to give it a unique patina, eschewing the sterility of machine-made pieces. It includes leveling floor glides to compensate for uneven surfaces. Made in U.S.A.
  • Terence Woodgate Unison Square Coffee Table
    dwr.com
British industrial designer Terence Woodgate is a Royal Designer for Industry (RDI), the highest honor awarded to designers in the U.K. He’s known for his obsessive attention to detail, which is beautifully illustrated in his Unison Table (2011). Visually simple, this two-tier table is actually quite complex in its design. In place of fasteners and external hardware, Unison uses a lower shelf as the structural component to hold the legs firmly in position. Its glass tabletop rests on neoprene pads, and Woodgate had to be sure to get the weight just right to make the pads grip sufficiently. Visible through the tabletop is the lower shelf with exquisitely cut half-sawn wood veneer. Made in Slovenia.

Inspired by the mid-century designs of Arne Hovmand-Olsen, we created the Skagen Table Collection (2009), which includes this Coffee Table, as well as a set of two Nesting Tables. The smooth edges and tapered shapes of the Coffee Table recall the popular "surfboard" tables of the 1960s, and there's an elegance in how the tabletop appears to hover over the frame, supported by simple brass spacers. The lower shelf creates convenient storage, and two ends are finished with slightly sculpted shapes, maintaining flow from one part to the next. Made in U.S.A. The lower shelf on this table has a lip on all four sides to keep books and magazines in place. At 50" wide, this coffee table fits nicely with a variety of sofa sizes. The Skagen Collection also includes Nesting Tables (set of 2). As with any natural material, slight variations in the texture and color of the wood are to be expected and are not defects.
  • Niels Bendtsen Crossover Square Coffee Table
    dwr.com
Through years of working as a full-time designer, running a retail store in Canada and acquiring manufacturing knowledge in Europe, Danish designer Niels Bendtsen found a balance between aesthetics, affordability and quality – all seen in his Crossover Table Collection (2013). Crossover takes its name from the overlapping base design, comprising a solid steel crossbar welded to tubular steel legs. Ingeniously simple and sleek, these tables feature exceptional stability, seamless connections and a pleasing heft that belies their slim appearance. They captivate with details that lend warmth and approachability, from the joinery of their solid ash tabletops down to the finish of their hand-rubbed bronzed feet. Tops have rounded corners and edges for a handsomely finished look, as well as raised lips to help prevent items from falling off. Jigsaw joints and metal plates underneath ensure rigidity and longevity. Each table ships flat; simple assembly required. Made in Canada.

  • Essey Grand Illusion Side Table - Clear
    shophorne.com
Illusion is a timeless statement of beauty, simplicity and functionality. As with so many great designs, inspiration is often derived from a story: "One day I was passing a Café in Copenhagen. There were round tables with white tablecloths. Each cloth was square and almost touched the floor. I stopped and took couple photos. I then went to a plastic workshop, showed them the image and asked if it was possible to make such an object in plastic. The answer was no. But I continued my quest and after a few months some samples were ready. The result was Illusion, a stunning example of Symbolic Functionalism that has received an extremely enthusiastic reception from both the press and consumers." John Brauer, designer. All Illusion tables are hand made and thus are slightly unique.

  • George Nakashima Splay-Leg Coffee Table
    dwr.com
George Nakashima regarded cabinetry and woodwork as a noble art form – a view evidenced in the pieces he designed for Knoll. His Splay-Leg Coffee Table (1946) exhibits his gifted sense of grain, texture and balance. The veneered walnut or hickory top has a reverse slip-matched cathedral grain, which allows the table to be placed facing either way. Mortise and tenon joints and brass hardware secure the top to the angled solid walnut legs, creating a simple, heirloom-quality modern classic. Nakashima referred to himself as a “Japanese shaker,” expressing the belief that his designs should be treated as everyday functional objects, not precious possessions. The Shaker influence can be noted in his extraordinary skill at crafting wood, a material he approached with great reverence, saying, “A tree is our most intimate contact with nature.” A signature plate on the underside of the table attests to its authenticity. This Table is manufactured by Knoll.

  • Jonah Takagi Tier Side Table
    dwr.com
Born in Tokyo and raised in New England, Jonah Takagi earned a bachelor’s degree from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2002. Pursuing his two passions, he spent the last decade designing furniture and playing bass guitar for several indie rock bands. Unfortunately, being on the road gave him little time to showcase his furniture, leaving him with a house full of products no one had seen. To showcase his growing body of work, he founded Atelier Takagi in 2005. His Tier Table (2015) draws from the architectural language of modernist 1960s high-rises. Featuring legs that have been relocated from the corners to the sides, this is a modern table that’s firmly planted on the ground, with tiered shelves for extra storage. Made in Taiwan.
  • Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand LC10 Square Low Table
    dwr.com
Le Corbusier referred to a house as a "machine for living," an industrial product that should include functional furniture or "equipment de l'habitation." In this spirit, he designed a system of furniture with Charlotte Perriand and his cousin Pierre Jeanneret. Expressing the rationalist aesthetic that came to epitomize the International Style, the framework of the LC10 Square Low Table (1928) is reduced to a minimum. It was Perriand’s idea to manufacture the legs and side pieces separately to ensure the highest quality finish; in this fashion, components of various sizes can be used to create tables more in line with demand today. Each piece is signed and numbered and, as a product of Cassina's Masters Collection, is manufactured by Cassina under exclusive worldwide license from the Le Corbusier Foundation. Made in Italy. A fully licensed classic. For residential and contract settings. Originally presented in the form of a desk at the 1929 Salon d'Automne in Paris. In the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art.
