If there's one thing I've taken away from my time here in the Midwest, it is a greater appreciation of the character and charm of the east coast. A lot of people have a misconception of New Yorkers as agressive, bossy, in your face jerks, and granted, they exist in spades in New York. But they are not the majority. I'm not saying that New Yorkers have a great love for humanity, but they have some f*cking respect for their fellow man. They have the where with all to put on airs and pretend to enjoy your company, whether they mean it or not. They're nice. Maybe not good, but NICE. They aren't like that in the midwest. They might be good, but they aren't nice. And I've realized I'd rather be surrounded by nice people than good people. It seems for the most part, we need to make that choice.
