  • Normann Copenhagen - Flag Candle Holder
    connox.com
Flag is a minimalist and funky candlestick with a geometric and conclusive expression. The Swedish designer Jonas Wagell has created this new interpretation of the classical chamber candlestick – a light candleholder in five warm colours. In the old days, the chamber candlestick was used to provide light at night. Today, candlelight is used to create a warm and cosy atmosphere. With clear references to the chamber candlestick, Flag has a recognisable function, a modern expression and is easily moved by picking up the little flag. Wagell's design was inspired by the little signal flags on floating buoys used to send signals to sailors. Designed to hold a single candle, the candlestick has a classic expression that would suit any interior style. Jonas Wagell explains: “I was inspired by the language used at sea, where small flags on buoys warn and inform sailors. The base of the candlestick resembles a floating buoy and the little handle a semaphore flag. In the same way as the buoys, the Flag candlestick attracts attention and creates light.”

  • Normann Copenhagen - True Feelings Tea Light Holder
    connox.com
True Feelings are the solution of an experiment and consequently the appearance of an innovative innovation: It has the finger prints of the designer Claydies. The tea light holders were designed in an experiment which the design-duo Claydies arranged and which should evade the basic design norms. One of the rules was to work blindfolded. This way the visual beginning, which design usually follows, evaded and the sense of touch got entrance into the designs. The design of the True Feelings Tea Light Holders is the design which was designed and choosen by touching - so to speak just with the inner eye. The designer himself says: "True Feelings is only designed by our fingers. Mostly, the outter design of our products is totally thought-out; here we allowed free play to our senses. The idea behind True Feelings is to make a process different and to use the hand blinded. This makes it possible to loose the sense of proportions and to transfuse the focus of the visualisation to the fingers. The solution is an direct design where the fine structure of the porcelain gives an elegant and romantic appearance.“ With a hint of irony and the uneven edges of True Feelings, the childish and direct design will be completed. True Feelings demonstates a clear contrast to high polished, unliberated and perfect design. Light up a tea light in the holder and adept the unique design.

  • Mogens Lassen Kubus 4 Candleholder
    dwr.com
A pioneer of Danish functionalism, architect Mogens Lassen approached his design work with mathematical precision. His Kubus Candleholder (1962) is a reaction against traditional candlesticks, which he saw as overly ornate and convoluted. Consisting of only the outline of a cube, it is a simple and angular design. Made of copper-plated steel, the Kubus is polished by hand, making each one unique. Like all copper, the Kubus will develop a rich green patina over time, or it can be polished to maintain its original luster. This licensed classic has been brought back into production by the designer’s grandson, Søren Lassen. Candles not included. Made in Denmark.
  • Normann Copenhagen - Heima single Candlestick
    connox.com
The single Candlestick is the slim version of the prize honored Heima Candlestick from Normann Copenhagen. Heima offers support to one single candle. The candlestick consists of robust cast iron and appears in a minimalistic, Nordic design. According to the Nordic mythology Heima means “home” or “world” as well. The designer Francis Cayouette chose the concept for his series of cast iron candlesticks. The uneven, nearly cold surface gives the Heima candlestick its own character, while its round form makes it look modern. The Heima single candlestick is inspired by the Nordic open fire culture and the art movements of the 1950es, where the principal material that was used, was cast iron. Heima pays tribute to the commercial craftsmanship and the Nordic tradition. The designer Francis Cayouette explains: ”Handicraft has to have recognition value and history. I have always been fascinated by open fireplaces and the work on the candlestick was a choice that I offered as a self-evident thing to do. Cast iron is an exciting raw-material that is in use for a long time now. It is good to handle and it gives contours to the candlestick. The Heima candlestick is simple and does not steal the show to any other object, instead it offers room for its actual function, namely the real fire.” To clean the Heima candlestick Normann Copenhagen suggests warm water and a dry tissue. If there are undesired wax rests on the candlestick Heima, placing the product on a piece of backing paper in the oven will solve the problem. After approximately 5 minutes at 250°C the candlestick has to be taken out of the oven and the wax has to be cleaned away with a tissue immediately. But be really careful because the object is going to be extremely hot.
