#37 In a series of images of the different faces of prostitution, spanning from different eras, social groups, and backgrounds.
Although this image does not in my mind literally "scream" any connotation to prostitution, I see significant evidence of modern prostitution, primarily the acts done by college girls who sell themselves to pay for their tuition. Although very risque and teeming with sad, unfortunate stories of such women selling themselves on Craigslist of all places, I was attracted to the vulnerability presented and how it is completely demolished by a sensual gaze. Society paints a quaint picture of a college student, primarily a female one, and how she presents herself to the world in a "bookish" mannerism. The figure is surrounded by the institutional objects that make her a college student (in this case she is artfully studying photography) however her body language suggests otherwise. Is she glaring in the eyes of the man who has paid for her sex? One can only assume, which is amazing.
