Mark Badgley and James Mischka—the design duo behind red carpet fave Badgley Mischka—tapped into the film noir genre for their Fall 2013 collection. Showing strict, controlled silhouettes, tailored knee-length skirts and mini-peplums, this show evoked the seductive, heavy emotion portrayed by some of Alfred Hitchcock’s famous femme fatale characters.

While the looks we’ve come to expect from the brand—flowing, feminine silhouettes—were almost eclipsed by darker, stronger gowns, Badgley Mischka successfully delivered a line that was universally beautiful and wearable. Even for the non-Hitchcock buff.
