okay so this is my first doll, yay!! sorry if it kinda sucks... :p
anyways, onto my story and sorry it's long... and i hope everyone had a great christmas!
monday december 24th;
I woke up nervously, because today was the day that my family was going to meet Dane. I was also seeing him for the first time since I had told him I was pregnant.
During breakfast, I prepared my family for the special night. "Please, don't make a fool out of yourselves. First impressions last!!" that was basically the polite way of saying don't talk. Of course I couldn't do anything about that.
Mom sent me out to get some last minute groceries at the food emporium in lincoln square. I decided to take that as my opportunity to meet up with Dane and talk to him before christmas eve.
When I got there, he was waiting eagerly at the front door.
"Hey Pepper!" he called and ran over.
"Hey," I said, pushing my hair behind my ear. "I'm sorry to call you on such short notice, I just wanted to talk to you before tonight." I said as we walked in.
"No, I've been thinking, actually I didn't have to think at all. I wanted to tell you right after you told me about this. I love you Pepper, and I don't want to let this baby push us apart. If anything, I want it is to bring us together." he paused to catch his breath. "Let's get married." he blurted.
"Whoa." I gasped, unaware of the fact that I said it out loud.
"I mean we don't have to get married right away but we can be a "couple" who is getting married." he reassured me.
"Are you sure about this?" I said, stopping in the produce aisle.
"Yes." he grabbed my hand and kissed my cheek. "I'm sure about you."
I smiled, and for a second I thought my life was going to fall into place.
He continued. "We can even tell your family tonight." And then the bomb dropped and it fell apart again.
"No!" I yelled. "I mean, I can't do that just yet. Right now really isn't a good time to tell my parents that their good girl daughter got knocked up."
"Okay, then we can wait." he agreed.
"Thank you." I kissed his cheek and we continued walking down the aisle, holding hands. I got to the cash and paid. We were standing outside about to leave when a runner bumped into me, his hand grazing my body. I turned around and gasped. "Peter?" I said, surprised to see my sister's husband.
He pulled out his headphones and greeted me. "Hey Pepper, I would stop and talk but I'm recording my time. I'll see you tonight!" he said as he continued walking. That was extremely strange.
"Who was that?" Dane asked.
"My sister's husband." I said, looking back at Peter. Something about him was off, I just wish I knew what. He always gave me the chills.
"Are you okay?" Dane asked me. "You look a little lost."
"I'm fine." I kisses his cheek. "I'll see you tonight!" I said as we both left.
I took a taxi back home and brought the groceries home. "Here mom." I placed the groceries on the counter.
"Thank you sweetie!" she praised. "Why don't you come help cook?"
"Sure, just let me go wash my hands."
My sister, Chloe, came out of her room at 6:30 wearing a skin tight black dress with cut outs on the sides at each inch down. Okay that was an exaggeration, but it was still extremely revealing. My parents gave her a head to toe look, contemplated saying something, then shut their mouths.
Just then, Jasmine, Peter and the kids came. Alex and Jamie arrived shortly after with their girlfriends. Last but not least, Dane came knocking on the door. I opened it, wearing a gold dress, and he looked at me, smiled then kissed me. "You look beautiful."
"Thank you." I kissed him once more. I took his hand and showed him inside, introducing the crowd.
"It's very nice to meet you Dane." my father said, shaking his hand. My mother came behind my father and agreed with him.
Dane pulled out a gift from his bag and handed it to my mother. "This is for you, just a token of my appreciation. I'm honored to spend christmas eve with your family." he smiled and my mother blushed.
"He's a keeper!" she joked as she opened the present and saw a set of pottery barn candles and holders.
We all settled down at the dinner table and my father said grace. Then my mother took out all the food from the kitchen and brought it to the table. "Dig in, everyone!" she said as she sat down between my dad and Jasmine.
My father spent most of dinner questioning Dane about his life. Overall, I can say he made an excellent first impression on my family. As their future son-in-law, I think they really liked him.
After dinner, my dad pulled Dane aside to talk to him. I assumed it was about me, as my dad did this for all his girls. It was sorta tradition. We all say down in the family room around the tree, on the couches, laughing and listening to Christmas music.
Dane came and say beside me on the couch. After a few minutes, he turned to me. "Do you think we can go someplace private? I have something for you."
I pulled him into my bedroom down the hall. We sat down on the edge of the bed and he gave me a box. I tore the wrapping paper gently until I reached a jewelry box. I carefully lifted the top and gasped. Inside was a beautiful good chain, and hung around the chain was an old wedding ring.
"It was my grandmother's. She gave it to me before she passed away." he said.
A tear flooded down my cheek as I leaned close to him. "I love you so much." I said before kissing him. I pushed him down onto my bed and leaned over him to get into more comfortable kissing position and before I knew it, we were both laying on the bed, making out.
I heard a knock on my door. "Pepper?" Chloe stood outside my door, calling me.
I quickly got up, fixed my dress and my smudged lipstick. "Coming!" I called.
I placed the necklace in my drawer, safe and sound, and left the room with Dane.
“I’ll be right back,” I whispered to Dane. “I just have to go to the washroom.”
I excused myself and walked down the hall. Before I closed the door, I noticed that the dresser drawer in my bedroom across the hall was open.
I looked down, and the ring was gone. I opened all my drawers, my closet, tore up my sheets, but it was nowhere to be found.
I was pacing across the bedroom when Dane walked in. “Are you okay?” he asked me, coming in close.
“I- I can’t find the ring.” I blurted, rubbing my forehead.
“It’s fine, um we’ll find it.” he reassured me.
“I’m really sorry.”
“It’s okay, really. The ring means nothing but the significance of how much I love you. It’s not going to make me love you or this baby any more.” He said, touching my stomach.
I smiled, and then heard a glass shatter on the ground at my doorway. I saw my younger sister in the background, her mouth to the floor.
I walked up to her, nervous as hell. “Chloe, you can’t tell anyone.” I pleaded, taking her hand. She let go of it and walked away. I looked back at Dane, his hand rubbing against the back of his neck, and then ran after my sister.
Down the hall I found her. “I’m sorry, Chloe. It was an accident, but until I know what to do, no one else can know.” I looked down at her, but felt almost as though she should be looking down at me. Not long ago, I had told her to stay safe to avoid unexpected pregnancy. And here I was, knocked up, and looking to my fifteen year old sister for help.
I felt awful. “Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone.” she sighed and smiled sympathetically. “But how did this happen?” she asked.
“I swear, we used protection. I honestly don’t know what happened.” I admitted.
“Okay.” she said, and then walked past me to the living room. I met up with Dane, and we exchanged a look that meant everything was okay. But that wasn’t at all the truth.
