Inspired by the lush, foliage-dense landscape of her Los Angeles home, artist Alexandra Carter brushes a luxuriant bouquet of leaves and grasses in verdant greens and extravagant washes. Although appearing as a traditional watercolor, her work is the result of an unusual technique by which Carter applies pools of ink to waterproof yupo paper, allowing the pigment to traverse across the non-porous surface in unpredictable ways. Our limited-edition giclée reproduction of the original painting is printed on paper and hand signed by the artist. Presented in a single white mat, the print is framed in pine with a matte white finish. Artist: Alexandra Carter. Giclée print on paper, hand signed by the artist. Pine frame with matte white finish. Glass. Numbered print of 475 editions. Hang with D rings provided; do not hang with wire. Dust with dry cloth. Made in USA.

  • Zuzunaga - Cushion - Squaring of the Circle - Fire
    connox.com
“Squaring of the Circle” is a collection of cushions that has been designed by the Spanish designer Criatian Zuzunaga for Zuzunaga. The vividly coloured design strings pixels in a graphic pattern together. Individuality is the topic from “Squaring of the Circle”. Each cushion possesses an individual, dynamic and unique look. The colours of the graphic patterns thereby reach from bright and expressive to soft and covered. Zuzunaga offers the cushions in three colour worlds: Fire, spirit and soul. They all use different colours in other combinations. The vivid look from “Squaring of the Circle” is the expression from Cristian Zuzunagas’ desire of filling the everyday of the people with colours and of creating positive emotions. The graphic design is inspired by architecture and the details images of city maps. For the pixel-like design, Cristian Zuzunaga explained that he expanded digital city maps until they only displayed gross geometric forms. Zuzunaga understands the design as metaphor for cities of the world: It shows how a city is composed of the combination of endless individual single pieces and receives an unmistakeable character in this versatility. Zuzunaga manufactures the cushion “Squaring of the Circle” out of the cover fabric Trevira CS. The robust fabric is washable at 40°C. The content of the pillow filling by Zuzunaga is made of 100% duck feathers, coated by a cover out of 100% cotton.

  • Alessi - A di Alessi - Michael Natale Figure
    connox.com
The Michael Natale Figure came out of the A di Alessi „Figures“ project which marks the beginning of the first public appearance of a design-trend in the 1990s. The project is a dialogue with the fascinating world of porcelain figures and especially with the elegant tradition of European made articles of the 18th century, according to the Alessi style and with contemporaneous artists. The first time when Alessi spoke about the figures was 1991, after the workshop with the trash designers of the East Village in New York in the winter before. After researches about the animated characteristics of the object – that are now connected in a metaproject “Family Follow Fiction” – A di Alessi thought that a potentially creative development might especially be expressed in an existing porcelain figures collection. The Michael Natale Figure by A di Alessi is a small decoration piece with a discrete, symbolic presence. Michael Natale is considered the protector of traditions as Father Christmas of “Made in Italy”.
