Top Set for 18th February 2013, thank you soo much to Polyvore and all the lovely comments of congratulations :D :D
OKAY, so this set has been in my drafts for so long because I was really inspired by all the GORGEOUS Haute Couture dresses and wanted to make a set featuring Haute Couture HOWEVER. It first started of using the Dior runway pictures but after looking for over half an hour I couldn't find a outfit that worked well with the pictures. Then, I deleted that draft and tried with Chanel runway pictures... same story but this time I had spent longer. I finally got fed up and ditched the whole idea altogether and went on my Tumblr and... TAH-DAH these Valentino backstage Haute Couture pictures were just staring me right in the face and I knew I could make these work :D :D (for some reason I find it really hard to make sets using runway pics and prefer backstage...) (and yes, I know the outfit still isn't a Haute Coture dress but I can't find pics ANYWHERE) Anyway, this is the final product and I just saw @lizasamoylova version of it and it is TRULY perfect and thank you so much to for the shout out! I'm so glad you like the pictures :))
Oh and also, I have been doing some Haute Couture themed research and it is super interesting so here you go :
According to the fashion telegraph...
To qualify as couture, a garment must be entirely hand-made by one of the 11 Paris couture houses registered to the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture. Each house must employ at least 20 people, and show a minimum of 75 new designs a year. So far, so stirringly traditional, but the Big Four operators - Chanel, Dior, Givenchy and Gaultier - increasingly use couture as a marketing device for their far more profitable ready-to-wear, fragrance and accessory lines.
Each dress costs around £50,000 and you can see how they are made if you follow this link here: http://www.buzzfeed.com/amyodell/see-how-a-couture-gown-is-made-entirely-by-hand
(seriously, i reccomend you watching it, it's super interesting =) )
Let me know what you think and bye for now :D
