  • Verpan - System 1-2-3 Dining Chair Standard
    connox.com
Verpan presents a chair out of the 1-2-3 series with the 1-2-3 Dining Chair. The series has already been designed by Verner Panton in 1973 together with Fritz Hansen. The initial collection included 20 different chair models, which differed by some details such as the seat height, armrests or bases. The public was astonished by the chairs in that time. Criticizers even called the series a milestone for the future of furniture design. After about 10 years, Fritz Hansen took the series out of the assortment and the timeless cantilever chairs are produced by the Danish manufacturer Verpan today. Verpan’s 1-2-3 series includes a dining room chair and a lounge chair, both models are coated with fabrics or leather in standard versions, as well as in a deluxe version as a Chesterfield edition. The initial intention of Verner Panton was to design a furniture program fulfilling many different functions and still granting high seat comfort with his 1-2-3 series. The shaping should be simple and natural, so that the chairs suited in the most different surroundings as functional elements. Verner Panton needed three years to develop his series. The result was a unique seating furniture concept with Panton working systematically on design and function based on a pre-defined theme. ”I wanted to design furniture that seem to grow out of the ground – organic chairs without four feet” , explained Panton about the work at the collection. Panton’s initial design consisted on a simple steel frame with a textiles coating to be fixed at. Verpan uses CHMR foam to upholster the new editions, in order to increase comfort and to ensure a fixed and flat coating. Verpan uses different fabric materials such as those by Camira or Kvadrat in the most different colours. Also different leather coatings are possible optionally. Each Verpan product is delivered with an authenticity certificate. This one grants the originality of the product, which is still manufactured according to the strict quality demands of Verner Panton at Verpan.
