"Sweet Song" is among my earliest child's room piece and is also part of the evolution of my Spirits of Femininity series. It is piece that came at a time when I was first experimenting with my craft and trying to find my voice. Unfortunately, she slipped out of my active collection for a time, as I found myself excited about new ideas and directions my art was taking, but has since returned; as my work takes a turn towards child-like themes and revisits ideas I had let wait until now. ps I've had a recent brainstorm and decided to direct this series into a collection of "Wishes & Magic Moments" as seen though the eyes of women remembering when they were little people. Did you wish for a pony? Did you have a magic moment watching a spider spin a web? Share your magic moments with me and, if I can, I'll make them into art. I hope you all (both new and long running fans of my work) will enjoy this new direction (for as long as it lasts), because I am having so much fun doing it. The original piece was done using an acrylic ink paint on watercolor paper. The technique is very similar to watercolor but tends to keep more vibrant hews and dries permanently to the paper; enabling me to create layered pieces that would be impossible with watercolor. The copyright watermark will not appear in the print you receive. Olga Cuttell
