  • Persian Bakhshayesh Area Rug - 3'10"' X 7'6"
    chairish.com
    Persian Bakhshayesh Area Rug - 3'10"' X 7'6"
This rug is true antique Bkahshayesh. It is very difficult to find a size like the one that I am offering. Amazingly, it is in fantastic condition for its age with a low, even pile from top to bottom with both ends intact. This is a true collective piece and second to none. You will love it. Bakshaish is a town on the banks of the Talke Rud River in the Heriz region of Northwest Persia. Situated in the mountainous region 60 miles east of the large city of Tabriz, Bakshaish is the oldest rug weaving village in the district of Heriz, noted for carpets with highly artistic, tremendously diverse abstracted adaptations of age-old tribal and classical Persian motifs. In their softness of color and line, the appearance of antique Bakshaish carpets somewhat resembles the Sultanabad carpets of Central Persia, yet with more free form, improvisational and geometric proportions. These are folk art masterworks in which the individual artistic creative decision of the weavers can usually be abundantly seen. The viewer will take delight in discovering the idiosyncratic temperament of the Bakshaish weaver, as seldom is one motif drawn in exactly the same fashion twice, and borders and even center medallions are usually playfully misshapen.
  • 2000s Hand Made New Turkish Rug - 4' X 6'

    2000s Hand Made New Turkish Rug - 4' X 6'
Turkish carpet, hand made in beige shades. The rug has nice soft colors of beige, burgundy, olive green and a beautiful floral design. High quality of wool and great job of an artist made circa 2000. It is in its original good condition. Turkish carpets and rugs, whether hand knotted or flat woven (Kilim, Soumak, Cicim, Zili), are among the most well known and established hand crafted art works in the world. Historically: religious, cultural, environmental, sociopolitical and socioeconomic conditions created widespread utilitarian need and have provided artistic inspiration among the many tribal peoples and ethnic groups in Central Asia and Turkey. The term tends to cover not just the products of the modern territory of Turkey, but also those of Turkic peoples living elsewhere, mostly to the east of Anatolia. Apparently originating in the traditions of largely nomadic Turkic peoples, the Turkish carpet, like the Persian carpet, developed during the medieval Seljuk period a more sophisticated urban aspect, produced in large workshops for commissions by the court and for export. The many styles of design reached maturity during the early Ottoman Empire, and most modern production, especially for export, looks back to the styles of that period. Turkish (also known as Anatolian) rugs and carpets are made in a wide range of distinct styles originating from various regions in Anatolia. Important differentiators between these styles may include: the materials, construction method, patterns and motif, geography, cultural identity and intended use.

  • Vintage Persian Seneh Rug - 3′ × 5′
    chairish.com
    Vintage Persian Seneh Rug - 3′ × 5′
Senneh Rugs, produced in NW Persia, are prized for their fine, delicate design and their distinctive, weaving technique. Sennehs come in a range of allover and medallion patterns, and consequently, it is their weave rather than their design that sets them apart. But whatever their design, Senneh rugs, and carpets always display a precise, crisp somewhat geometric drawing that corresponds to the precision of the weave. Colors tend to be varied and rich, but soft as well. Antique Senneh rugs are best known for scatter-sizes that make excellent decorative accent rugs, but they come as decorative room-sized carpets as well. The more robust, tribal-looking antique Senneh rugs were probably woven by Kurds. The one that I am offering here is a very fine one, as you see, and has allover pattern rather than a medallion with a blue background and interesting design, which is unusual for Seneh. I have shown an image from the back side for those who are curious about the weave, and as you will see it is a fine one. Due to its fantastic quality and condition, and the price that I am offering, this rug could last easily for decades. It has been kept in good care, with no spilled liquids, animal stains, etc. You will love it.!

    1890s Antique Persian Dabir Kashan Rug - 2'1" X 3'4"

The rug is in original condition, it has some low pile but generally in a good condition. From the mid-19th to the early 20th century the finest quality rugs from Kashan were called Dabir and said to be from the workshop of Dabir. Today it is generally assumed that Dabir is an indication of fine Kerman workshop production rather than a firm attribution. However with the existence of some signed Dabir rugs it is certain that the workshop existed. The early Kashan rugs were made with Manchester wool and are softer. The change occurred in the 1930s. Kashan is a city in North Central Iran. We know that there was production of Persian Carpet at Royal workshops in the 17th and early 18th century. Many authors attribute Persian Rugs and Carpet to Kashan in the 16th century particularly of the so-called small silk Kashan Persian Carpet group. Hamadan is a city situated in the western part of Iran, 300 kilometres west of Teheran. It is one of the worlds oldest cities and is mentioned under the name of Ekbatana in the Bible, see the book of Esther. The city is a center for trading with carpets that are manufactured in the hundreds from nearby villages and cities. The best of these carpets are sold under their own names such as Nahavand, Tuiserkan, Malayer or Hosseinabad. More simple carpets from the area are sold under the generic term Hamadan. They are easily recognized with their typical patterns and sizes. The patterns are very varying and the medallion as well as carpets with repeated patterns occur. Among individual pattens the Herati is the most common pattern. The colors are dominated by different nuances of indigo blue and madder red. Older Hamadan carpets can be very attractive products. In the city itself, Hamadan, carpets were manufactured with a considerably higher quality. The carpets were called Shah r-baff and are similiar in structure to the Bidjar carpets, but they are rare on the market today. The carpets are manufactured with a ropy, shiny and often natural dyed hand-spun yarn, that provides a very durable surface and beautiful colour scale. Common for all these carpets is that they are nowadays made on a cotton warp with one weft. The patterns are mostly geometrical, but floral motifs also occur. Materials and design can be of very varying quality. Older carpets (before 1920) are often tied on wool warp, different from todays cotton warp. The younger carpets (after 1960) often have synthetic colors and less fine wool than older carpets. The most common sizes are dozar and zaronim (approximately 200x120 cm and 150x100 cm). -condition: original good, -circa: 1900, -size: 3' x 13' ( 91cm x 396cm ), -material: wool, -country of origin: Iran, -style: Hamadan, -background colors: black, red, camel hair, sky blue, olive green.

A triple border is surrounding the central area. Two of them are in an azure color and the larger one in the middle is in white. Although the standard Heriz medallion is used, smaller Karajeh Persian rugs are ornamented with medallions from earlier tribal runners. Karajeh rugs use soft earth colors and use geometric patterns. Among the most appealing and intriguing styles of Persian rugs, Karajehs represent a lovely development in the history of artisanal rug weaving.

West Persia includes parts of Iran, Azerbaijan and Armenia. Carpet weavers in N. West Persia were not the most prolific craftspeople but their rare high quality carpets are sought after commodities that regularly sell for record breaking sums. The oldest known carpet in the Northwest Persian style was produced in the city of Tabriz. It depicts a bountiful hunting scene with lush vegetation. Antique Turkish Anatolian rug. This rug was made in soft tones of green, orange, red and brown. The central area is red with green corners. Border has orange color and tribal design on it. Nice warm colors of autumn. Most pile rugs from Anatolia utilize the symmetrical ghiordes double knot or "Turkish knot". Each knot is made on two warps. With this form of knotting, each end of the pile thread is wrapped all the way around the two warps, pulled down and cut, creating a stronger rug than the much more typical asymmetrical single knot senneh or "Persian knot". Rugs have been woven in Anatolia since before the 13th century. Carpets derive their names from the localities in which they are produced, tribal groups they are associated with, as well as from the techniques of their manufacture, the characteristic patterns of their ornamentation, the layout of the design and the intention of their use. - condition: original good - circa: 1910 - size: 4' x 6.3' ( 122cm x 192cm ) - material: wool - country of origin: Turkey - style: Anatolian - background colors: red, orange, gree, brown

    chairish.com
    1920s Antique Turkish Anatolian Hand Made Rug - 3′1″ × 4′7″
Antique, collectible Turkish Anatolian rug. This rug is from the beginning of 20th century in deep red color with olive brown border. The large medallion in the center is in diamond shaped and contains shades of dirty blue and yellow. Very simple design makes it fashionable in our days. In 1272, the Venetian merchant traveler and explorer Marco Polowas the first European writer to mention Anatolian carpets, specifically mentioning the "Beautiful rugs of Konya and Karaman". Most pile rugs from Anatolia utilize the symmetrical ghi orde double knot or "Turkish knot". Each knot is made on two warps. With this form of knotting, each end of the pile thread is wrapped all the way around the two warps, pulled down and cut, creating a stronger rug than the much more typical asymmetrical single knot sennet or "Persian knot". Rugs have been woven in Anatolia since before the 13th century. Carpets derive their names from the localities in which they are produced, tribal groups they are associated with, as well as from the techniques of their manufacture, the characteristic patterns of their ornamentation, the layout of the design and the intention of their use. Condition: original good, Material: wool, Background colors: olive brown, deep red, dirty blue, yellow.
