"Get more attention"
A question which comes very often in my mind is: Why do you make it so complicated to like you and your sets on polyvore?
Everyday I browse through polyvore and everyday I see a lot of profiles which fits to the question. I want to tell the truth darlings, as always, so I'm really desperate somehow.
I see a lovely set, like it, go to the profile and want to see other sets. What happens? I see an unstructured and unclear profile where I can hardly find any own set.
Let me tell you something about how I dealed with the question how to get more attention:
1: The showcase is so important! I noticed that I got more traffic - that means likes and comments on sets - after I changed the showcase. You really should present your best sets here, imagine you go to a casting and want to show only the best shoots of you! The showcase is the first thing everybody sees here, so choose wisely. For this you can create a collection with your personal top sets and make it a showcase after that.
2: Choose titles instead of numbers. Here "Let is snow" instead of "Set Nr. 345" Well, the title is really boring but it's just an easy example. A title give a link to your set and people get curious about your other sets -> more attention.
3: The most important point in my eyes: The structure of your profile. Sry to say, but I HATE it to go on a profile and can't figure out any set of you. I HAVE NOT TIME to browse and scroll 5 minutes to find your set!
So: Go to settings and remove:
- likes, articles, collections (-> we'll come to this point later), and anything else which has nothing to do with a set by itself.
This is no guideline, it's an advice. But I was really desperate when I couldn't find any sets of people in their own profile because it was overshadowed by other things. I did some research here and it confirmed my thesis. The first 3 polyvorians here with the most likes and set views have the same structure like I have which brought me more attention!!! -> Pros use clear profiles!
4 The structure of a clear profile could be this: You pick the most important categories and show them on the right of your page - not in between your sets!!! That means:
- your contest wins (what could be more convincing?)
- your collections (also a good marketing strategy)
- your followers (they are talented people, too and you show the world that people like your sets so much, that they follow you. the network is everything)
Polyvore shows only a small part of your contest wins ect. but that is good! It's just a preview, a teaser, and it keeps the clear structure AND people who are interested will click on "more", trust me ;)
I agree when people say it is a personal choice of how you want to structure your profile. Sure sweeties, individuality is always good. But think about persons who gave up on finding your set in the -like-article-collections-jungle of your profile. Do you want to get attention and likes or do you want to let me search forever and ever and ever...?
Hope I could help,
