This is to everyone: Popularity doesn't always mean bit.chy & mean & rich & spoiled. It doesn't always mean you wear tons of makeup & look like a wh.ore
Sometimes it means that you are friendly, therefore you have lots of friends, attention, & fun! Think about it that way before commenting mean things.

You're right, high school can give a head start on your adult life, and popularity usually does disapear after graduation. But also, you want to have a balance and not spend your entire high skl career working to get into a good college-have fun and balance yourself as well as studying hard and getting good grades/experiences. As for never seeing people again after graduation, I know that some people hold on to a few close friends after graduating, so everyone should think about that-would you rather have those lasting friends be people you were just friends with for popularity, or people who really care aout you regardless of your or their status? In other words, lasting friendships are based on meaningful connections, regardless of anyone's status or popularity.

this is a late comment, but I agree with what you said about society putting alot of emphasis on being popular and looking pretty. You don't have to be Miss Popularity to enjoy where you are in your life!
And for you middle schoolers out there, here's the thing about high school: for half of the people, its about finding who they really are, and the other half know who they are at that moment. Dont worry about that when you get to high school, just let things come as they may. What I've reallized is that high school can be hard because you may be finding yourself, but at the same time feel expected to label yourself through the clubs, extracurriculars, and friends you choose. Dont feel pressure to be a label-just do what you love, dont be afraid to try new things or befriend new people, stay true to yourself, embrace who you are, and remember that you might still be growing into the person you're going to be.

I agree with @killer-queen-xoxo Being popular is stupid, and quite frankly a waste of time. I can guarentee you, that by the time you've graduated from high school, you won't see any of your classmates ever again, except at the school reunion in 20 years, when all the popular kids are either unemployed or have crappy jobs.
Trust me, every adult I've talked to says that they don't remember anyone they went to school with - not even their friends, so there's really no point in trying hard to be liked by people. I understand what @smoky-topaz means when she says "you only get one shot at high school, use it to the best of your ability, etc..." but high school is your only chance to work as hard as possible to give yourself a head start in the future. Being popular and having guys bow down before you isn't going to give you a career, lovelies. Popularity is an illusion that disappears after graduation.

aww guys, i didn't mean to start a mini-controversy with this set//:
to me, being 'popular' is just being friendly & kind to everyone, & putting forth your best self. it doesn't necessarily mean that you have to dump everything you like and dress like the popular girls and act provocative - i never said anything of the sort.
given, girls who are like that tend to be more 'popular/well-kknown', but - as i stated in the beginning of the tip - that wasn't really the 'type of popular' - if i may - that i was trying to describe.
when i think popular, i think of someone that people look up to & respect.
so that's kind of what i was tryin to go for here.

@smoky-topaz yes i agree with everything you said to! I wasn't exactly saying that Nicole was saying "forget about your hobbies and interests and be more like the cool kids" but it might have come across that way.
i hope i didn't/don't come across as pushy. i guess it's just of the people I know who are popular most of them don't really seem like they're being themselves. some of them look like they're putting on a act.
I also agree there's nothing wrong with having lots of friends it's just i think a lot of people spend to much time trying to be cool and live up to other peoples ideas of cool. I think there might be to much emphasis in society on being in and popular and looking right and not enough on who you are as a person and your character.
So my comment was more about that then trying to tell Nicole these aren't good tips or whatever.

@maya-sarah I agree that sometimes its better to just be yourself! However I think you can still use these tips WHILE being yourself, such as fixing bad manners, being hygenic, working on your people skills a bit. Those aren't things that define who you are. Its more about being your best self. Nicole's not saying "forget about your hobbies and interests and be more like the cool kids". You can still like/do the things that make you YOU.
Theres nothing wrong with having alot of friends, as long as you make sure you have true friends in there somewhere. Personally, I'd rather be interesting an unique and have my own true friends than dress and act a certain way just to be the center of everything "cool". We all get just one shot at high school, no one should spend it wishing they were someone else!

it's waaaayyyy more important to stick by what you think is right, fair and beautiful (on the inside) then try to act, dress, walk and talk a curtain way so u can be loved by many people.
it's better to have 1 true, honest friend then 50 friends that are a bad influence on you and are just your friend because u are popular.
We are all special and unique. to anyone reading this. you are beautiful and worthy, intelligent and capable!

be optimistic and surround yourself with people who will have a positive influence on you(: ♥
