  • Kartell Take Table Lamp
    hivemodern.com
Design Ferruccio Laviani. Batch-dyed polycarbonate. Made in Italy by Kartell. A new Kartell light. A new emotion, amusingly provocative. The classic image of the bedside lamp has been revisited by Kartell technology and transformed into an industrial product, made of injected polycarbonate. Take is available in two versions: transparent polycarbonate in varying shades or solid colors, in white and black. Its refined style is the result of attention given to the quality of the finishings and of the care taken in the polycarbonate injection process, which, for example, allow for the clear delineation of the inner pleating of the lampshade, giving a rich, luminous crystalline effect. The perfect packaging, for a cash and carry product, makes it an excellent "ready to buy" gift idea. Thanks to the young and informal atmosphere it manages to create with its simplicity, Take fits perfectly into any room of the house as well as in public places (bars and restaurants, hotel foyers and rooms). 7.3" w | 11.8" h | 7" d. UL listed | requires 1x28W E12 type B halogen bulb.

  • &Tradition Verner Panton Vp1 Flowerpot Suspension Lamp
    hivemodern.com
Design Verner Panton, 1968. Steel with lacquered finish, fabric cord. Made in Denmark by &Tradition. In 1968 the students' revolts in Paris, Rome and the United States were overthrowing stiff, old values, and initiating the Flower-Power generation of peace, love and harmony. Same year, Stanley Kubrick pictured the future of the year 2001, featuring the Verner Panton Chair, and man was soon to set foot on the moon. In the world of design, a colorful, playful pendant hung in restaurants and exhibitions, and very soon, in everybody's homes. The Flowerpot with its two semi-circular spheres facing each other has long proved its lasting design quality and is just as much a synonym of our time, too. Verner Panton graduated as an architect from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen in 1951, and later founded his own studio and went in the opposite direction of most Danish designers. Pop aesthetics in furniture and interiors were born. Verner Panton successfully interpreted the 'a-changin' times of the hippie movement and moon landing into visionary colorful interior, lighting and furniture. To him, color was always more important than form and creating his own theory of light based on Goethe and the Bauhaus painters, he believed, that color could evoke feelings. Also, In his young days, Panton often set off from Copenhagen in an odd looking converted Volkswagen for a trek across Europe, dropping in on fellow designers to share ideas - and good meals. The VP1 Flowerpot suspension lamp is available in many bold colors with matching textile cord. VP1 is also offered in various metal finishes accompanied by black fabric cord. 8.5" dia. | 6" h | ceiling rosette: 4.5" dia. | cord: 9' L | requires 1x40W E26 or 7W CFL bulb.
  • Vitra Verner Panton Visiona Stool
    hivemodern.com
Design Verner Panton, 1970. Polyurethane foam, polystyrene core, MDF base. Made in Germany by Vitra. "Most people spend their lives living in dreary, beige conformity, mortally afraid of using color. The main purpose of my work is to provoke people into using their imagination and make their surroundings more exciting." -Verner Panton. In 1970, Danish designer Verner Panton was commissioned by Bayer AG to create Visiona 2, a living landscape that became known as one of the most radical future living scenarios of the 20th century. Inspired by Pop Culture and Science Fiction, Visiona 2 brought the societal transformation of the 1960s and 1970s into the private living sphere, instead of clear room divisions and conventional furniture, Panton applied colorful upholstery elements that projected a relaxed, informal lifestyle. Verner Panton designed the Visiona Stool as part of the interior installation created in 1970 for his legendary Visiona exhibition in Cologne. The compact upholstered stool not only provides practical and comfortable seating but also adds vibrant color accents that can be coordinated with any interior, thanks to the large selection of fabric colors. The unobtrusive geometric shape allows the Visiona Stool to be paired with a wide range of furnishings. Due to its light weight, it can be easily repositioned and combined into spontaneous groupings. The robust fabric cover is secured with an elastic band, which makes it simple to remove and clean. 16" h | 16.5" dia.

  • Kartell Bourgie Table Lamp
    hivemodern.com
Design Ferruccio Laviani, 2004. Polycarbonate, metallic ABS. Made in Italy by Kartell. A reminiscence of the 70's with his Easy and Fl/Icon lamps which featured playfulness, joy and color. After Take, with its young, informal and amusing design, we introduce the Bourgie lamp, of classic inspiration, the revisiting of a classic: the baroque lamp. The revolutionary invention of this lamp is it is made entirely in transparent polycarbonate. On one hand, it is classical, rich, traditional and on the other, it is innovation, transparency, irony. The quality of the material and the extremely high-quality processing makes it look like a precious, crystal lamp. The baroque style base is constituted of three decorated layers that cross over each other, and the large hood is made with a plisse effect, to create a play on reflections when lit. Thanks to a special coupling system on the hood, it can be assembled at three different heights. You can use it as a side table in the drawing room, or place it on the bedside table for evocative bedroom lighting; as a sculptural object it can be placed directly on the floor, or used as a reading lamp on a desk. Light intensity is adjustable through a high quality switch dimmer. The chrome and gold finish versions are produced in a limited edition. 14.5" dia | 26.75", 28.75" or 30.75" tall. • Ettore Sottsass for Emeco Nine-O Chair
    plushpod.com
Designer: Ettore Sottsass for Emeco. The Nine-O, a new collection of chairs and stools by the Italian designer Ettore Sottsass debuted at the 2008 Salone Internazionale del Mobile. The new designs re-imagine the classic, all aluminium Emeco 1006 Navy Chair, but adds comfort and color with new features including soft polyurethane upholstery, a wider seat and stacking ability. These are the last chairs designed by Mr. Sottsass, who died in December 31, 2007 at the age of 90. Available in brushed or polished aluminium. Three different backs available, 3-bar, open, or soft. Seat and back cover available in red, orange, green, blue, or grey. Brushed: To give our chairs a brushed finish, we anodize them. Basically we put them through an electrolytic process. Which turns Aluminum to Aluminum oxide. Making it nearly as hard as diamonds. All very technical. But how does it feel? We like to think the brushed finish is a doing finish. A working chair. Utilitarian. Knock aboutable. You can feel the toughness. Industrial yet warm. Polished: Emeco chairs aren’t just polished. They’re polished 3 times, by hand First the individual parts. Then the assemblies. Finally the completed chair. Taking 8 hours it total. It’s what gives them their luxurious look. They feel sensual, smooth, almost soft. One customer even told us it was like climbing into silk sheets. Our polishers were happy. Options/finish: Material: Brushed or polished aluminum frame with integrally colored, soft polyurethane seat and back. Dimensions: 31.5" H x 20.25 W x 22.25 D, 18.5" seat height.
