Dimensions: 27 x 32 cm 10,5 x 12,5 in Founded in 1924 by couturier Marcel Rochas, the iconic Paris fashion house has been re-launched in 2009 under the direction of Marco Zanini. This spring summer season, the Italian designer described his collection as "A journey through the vortex of cinema". With references to the retro and sci-fi heroines of Hitchcock, John Waters and Tim Burton, and a generally 1950's "New look" feel, the silhouettes displayed an inimitable sense of French elegance. Playing with the sartorial strengths of a fifties housewife, the runway looks showed minimal A-line and open-back shirt dresses, as well as midi and pencil skirts worn with little sweaters and trench coats. The luxurious fabrics varied from cotton piqué, satin, and organza silk to sequin-embroidered chiffon, in a range of icy pastels and occasional fading florals, contrasted with a final black for the evening. In terms of accessories, the cat-eye sunglasses, organza headscarves covering the French twist-hair, the vanity purses as well as the mules and mirror platform heels completed the look. On the overall, the collection felt like a cinematic nostalgia, producing timelessly elegant pieces with a contemporary touch. True "objects of desire". 2012 Spring-Summer collection.
