  • Modernica Fiberglass Rocker Shell Arm Chair
    shophorne.com
The Case Study Fiberglass Rocking Chair is an essential for the modern home and with so many options, it is possible to create your own one-of-a-kind chair. The shell is available in a myriad of colors. Choose your wire-frame in either zinc-plated steel or black powder-coated steel, and finish your design by choosing either solid maple runners or solid walnut runners. Easily one of the most important and recognizable designs of the twentieth century. The Fiberglass Shell Chairs were originally designed by Charles Eames in 1948 as an entry in The Museum of Modern Art’s International Design Competition. At the time, no one could possibly have anticipated the massive success and longevity of this iconoclastic design. Modernica creates each shell, by hand, one-by-one, in their Los Angeles factory—just as they had been designed, developed, and produced by the Eames Office, here in Southern California in the 1950s. Modernica uses all of the original presses and specialized equipment obtained from Century Plastics. To ensure authenticity of production, the initial shell chair production was overseen by Sol Fingerhut and Irv Green, the same team Charles Eames employed over sixty years ago to develop the original technology. Modernica is committed to the legacy of the authentic genuine design of Charles Eames. Modernica creates each chair with the charge of adhering to the original tactile qualities, texture, and characteristics that alone are unique to the fiberglass shell chair. Our fiberglass chairs contain no (PBDE) Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers.

  • Normann Copenhagen - Era Lounge Chair
    connox.com
Furniture for a new era: Normann Copenhagen presents the Era Lounge Chair, designed by Simon Legald. The armchair is available in many editions and it enriches every furnishing. Classic, friendly, nostalgic and curvy. That’s how the collection of lounge chairs designed by Simon Legald for Normann Copenhagen might be described the best. But the Era collection is much more than that. The shapes are well-proportioned, the lines embossing and the appearance modern. The Era series connects modern production techniques with traditional furniture handicraft resulting in one unmistakable Lounge Chair. The slim design and the high quality transform the Era Lounge Chair into one futuristic and versatile armchair. It is very suitable for modern furnishings, which demand flexibility. The chair is suitable for different rooms of the house and it serves for different events and demands, if they change. The design of Era is directed to different generations and it looks as great in the living room of a design enthusiast as of a family with children, of a young couple or of their grandparents. Normann Copenhagen Era: Numerous editions Simon Legald explains: ”It took a while until the proportions and the interplay between soft curves and tensed lines at the seats were perfectly balanced. It was important here to process the cushions and seams with a lot of handicraft precision. It was my aim to create individual armchairs with an own character fpr each one. I achieved in this by means of creating different variations between the high and low chairs and also by the different frames. This is how the wooden frames are flat and look warm while the thinner, round steel and chrome editions rather remind us of industrial objects. The frame of a rocking chair is an unexpected and playful alternative for a lounge armchair.” The editions are uncountable: Normann Copenhagen’s Era Lounge Chair is available in a high and a low edition, with legs out of oak wood, walnut, black painted steel or chrome as well as with a rocking chair frame out of chrome. The Era Collection also includes a stool. Two woollen qualities with vivid appearance and beautiful structure as well as soft, resistant leather in many colours are also available as cover for Era.
