This set is dedicated to @patpatkay. Just a little inspiration as she prepares for college later this year.
Simon & Garfunkle: Bridge Over Troubled Water Live in Central Park
Oh my, I think I just fell in love with Art Garfunkle. One of the best songs ever written. I got to see Simon & Garfunkle play at The Hollywood Bowl in 2004, and The Everly Brothers were their opening act. Swoon! Best concert ever, never thought I'd see them play live.
The song I had in this set originally was Here, There, & Everywhere by The Beatles. I first intended to use one of my fave songs by one of Pat's favorite bands. I chose a fave inspirational one instead. This is crazy... I just looked up Art Garfunkle's bio and guess what his favorite pop song of all time is? Here, There, & Everywhere by The Beatles. Meant to be ;)
Here, There, & Everywhere: The Beatles
The Book of Courage is actually a book of inspirational quotes that Matthew Kelly collected during a difficult season of his life. It's my favorite gift book to give, and though quite simple is life-changing. Here's an excerpt:
Our world is changing so quickly. It can be a little frightening at times. It is easy to become so busy worrying about the future that we forget to live our dreams. There is something wonderful about a dream. It is not the achievement of the dream that matters most, but rather the pursuit of those dreams that are born from deep within us. The pursuit of the dream is life. Pursuing dreams does something mysterious to us. It fills us with hope, passion, and enthusiasm, and expands our capacities as a human person in every way.
So what are we waiting for? We only get one shot at life. Isn’t it time for a little soul-searching? Visit a quiet church in the middle of the day. Take a walk in the park. Turn off the television and talk to your children. Open the paper and look for the job you’ve always wanted. Keep a promise. Tell your mom you love her. Restore an old Ford. Make friends with your neighbors. Say yes instead of maybe. Watch a sunset. Write your spouse a love letter. Fly a kite. Say “sorry”. Ask that girl out on a date. Try a food you’ve never tasted before. Make peace with God.
Don’t waste your life, because life is there – all you have to do is reach out and embrace it. Anything is possible. Whatever your dream is, make it happen. Have courage. Start today. You will be amazed what life will give you in return for a little bit of courage.
Be certain of one thing, the measure of your life will be the measure of your courage.
