Thursday, Feb. 25th ~Welcome Dinner~
Take the time to settle into your cabins today and explore the ship. Later on in the evening Savannah and Helen are hosting a dinner party to welcome all the bright and shining socialite's. Be sure to dress to impress, because first impressions usually make a pretty big impact. Hope to see you there.
When: Cocktails at 5:30 p.m.
Dinner at 7:00 p.m.
Where: Neptune's Grand Ballroom
Why: To welcome everyone to the S.S. Savannah and so everyone can mingle.
It'd been a slow day. I'd lounged in my room, unpacking and putting up pictures of Drew and I, Lacey, my best friend from LA, and one of the view from my room in Santorini. After everything had been placed in either the closet, bookshelves, or drawers, I grabbed a copy of Carpe Diem, one of my favorite travel novels, and laid back on my bed, waiting for 5:30 to roll around.
When it was finally time to head down to Neptune's Grand Ballroom, I slipped into a Free People lace dress and went to get my cocktail on. I waved to Savannah and Helen, and went over to the bar. "What can I get you, miss?" the bartender asked.
"Cranberry mojito, please." I flashed him a mega-watt smile, and he forgot all about carding me. What can I say? I lived in Greece, where you only have to be seventeen to buy alcohol. It's really not that big a deal. Of course, I couldn't expect it to work every time, but until I made friends that were twenty-one, or turned twenty-one myself, it was gonna have to do.
I mingled around the room, striking up a conversation with Shae and Abrielle. We continued talking until dinner, where we found out we were seated at the same table, along with Makayla and Jess. "So, any of you ladies leaving behind a boyfriend?" I asked, poking at my salad.
They all shook their heads. "Just a lot of good guy friends," Abrielle winked, and we all laughed.
"What about you, Erin?" Shae asked. "I saw that hottie that was with you yesterday."
I giggled. "Uh, yeah, he's one hundred percent gay, sorry to disappoint. In fact, I'm under strict instruction to send back pictures and bios of all the hotties here."
"Ooh, this will be fun!" Jess smiled, clapping her hands. "Can we help?"
"The more help, the better," I told her, and immediately, the girls and I started looking around the place for guys to write home about.
We came up with a list of about five, but Makayla told us not to be disappointed. "C'mon, the guys probably ditched after the free beer got taken away. We'll definitely see more of them throughout the trip."
We stayed in the ballroom until about midnight, and then, hopped up on adrenaline from making girlfriends, I bounced on my bed, and turned on Grey's Anatomy, falling asleep almost as soon as my head hit the pillow.
