  • Santa & Cole TMC Floor Lamp
    shophorne.com
In order to mark the fiftieth anniversary of this exceptional design, in 2011 Santa & Cole presented the “latest, definitive edition” (in the words of its creator) of the TMC lamp. The present version revives a number of the details that have been brushed aside throughout its heterogeneous productive life, such as the thickness and quality of the methacrylate material used in the shade or its strictly circular shape. However, it also incorporates new improvements to the up-down shade system that is no longer comprised of a row of openings at the back to insert the clamp; rather, the upper shaft is a smooth, continuous piece where the height of the shade can be adjusted using a well-positioned magnet. An undeniably unsurpassable masterpiece.

    shophorne.com
The iconic three shade system of the PH series of lighting fixtures was created in 1925/1926 by Poul Henningsen for an exhibition in Paris. The designer was determined to produce glare free lighting that was directed where it was needed most while creating soft shadows. The three shade system creates an even distribution of light as each shade reduces the light equally due to their distance from the light source. This is the first lamp to have been created using the scientific model of the logarithmic spiral as a basis for light distribution. There have been approximately one thousand variations of the original lamp with several floor, table, wall, and pendant versions currently available. The PH 3.5/2.5 Glass Floor Lamp is finished with chrome plating over. It is has a 12 foot electrical cord with an in line foot switch and accepts a 100W max E26 base bulb (not included)

  • Tom Dixon Mirror Ball Floor Lamp
    ylighting.com
Design by Tom Dixon.Blown like bubble gum into a mould, these plastic spheres are metalized internally to give a mirrored finish. This internal metallic design focuses the brightness from the lamp, projecting a soft, broad beam of light. The external chrome surface has the added benefit of making the exterior highly reflective providing further character to an interior space. Mirror Ball is formed using a technically advanced process of vacuum metallisation. The process involves vaporizing a small amount of pure metal at a very high temperature and then sucking it on to a surface by applying an electrical charge. Extremely small holes can appear at times within the metal coating due to environmental conditions. The Mirror Ball floor lamp comes with 157" of clear cord with on/off foot switch for use on the floor and with the Tripod Stand fitting for use with the Tripod Stand. The Tripod stand is not included.

  • Santa & Cole FAD Floor Lamp

Originally conceived to light the erstwhile central headquarters of FAD – a benchmark centre in Spain – the arrangement of these floor and table lamps strike a chord as an example of truly understood industrial craftsmanship by no means folkloric or mundane. The upper metal shaft can be adjusted in height and the striking cross-shaped base, exuding Miguel Milá ’s creation, is the same size as the lower circumference of the shade. • Louis Poulsen PH 3-2.5 Bollard Floor Lamp
    ylighting.com
Design by Poul Henningsen.By Louis Poulsen.PH 3-2.5 Bollard is a member of the PH 3-shade family, and the principle behind the PH 3-shade fixture was made in a few hectic months in the winter of 1925-26 for a large exhibition hall in Copenhagen, Denmark called "Forum". This is what Poul Henningsen said about his new fixture in 1926: "The real innovation in the PH-fixture is that it produces lighting which is both glare free and economical. It is easy enough to create glare-free light (indirect and strongly shaded light) if a portion of the light is allowed to be wasted, and it is equally easy to make fixtures which are highly efficient if you ignore the fact that they severely irritate the eye (strong specular reflection, etc.) but it is an art to make light both economical and glare free". The combination of diffused reflection and a logarithmic shade curve also gave PH the opportunity to control the fixture's glare and shading. The luminance transitions from shade to shade would also appear harmonic. The PH3-shade system started out as a pendant solution but very quickly it also developed into other kinds of fixtures for tables, floors, walls and a great number of different chandeliers. The fixture is designed based on the principle of a reflective three-shade system, which directs the majority of the light downwards. The shades have a matte white painted interior surface, diffusing the light in a comfortable way.Made from materials that can endure various weather conditionsPerfect for entrances and placement around the perimeter of corporate areas and private residencesSuitable for gardens and drive/walkways Material: Top, middle, and lower shade: Spun stainless steel.
