The organic shape of the Panthella Floor Lamp is as popular today as when it was designed in 1971. Designer Verner Panton wanted to create a light where the foot and the shade would both reflect the light. While the hemispherical shade reflects light downward, the majority of the light emitted by the Panthella Floor lamp is diffused around the room from the surface of the shade, creating a soft and comfortable ambiance. The floor lamp is constructed of white and white opal acrylic. The 11 foot electrical cord is set with an in line foot switch and the lamp accepts 150W max E26 bulb.

  • Santa & Cole TMM Floor Lamp
    shophorne.com
This is perhaps the most highly acclaimed pieces from one of Spain’s leading pioneering masters of industrial design. Miguel Milá managed to brilliantly separate the three vital components of any lamp: the structure, the electrical components and the shade, in an exquisite demonstration of earnest serenity and functional efficiency, allowing the user to put them together with tremendous ease and enabling better maintenance throughout its extensive service life. It becomes ever more glorious in time. A cross-shaped base supports a square wooden shaft that becomes a circle in the middle. The shade can be moved up or down it, held at the required height by a simple rubber ring. A genuine lesson in intelligence and good taste making minimal use of components. This was Miguel Milá’s first product that Santa & Cole re-released in 1986, 25 years after it initially saw the light of day. Today it is offered in a range of five different woods for the structure and two colours of shade: white or beige.
  • Louis Poulsen PH 80 Floor Lamp
    shophorne.com
The iconic three shade system of the PH series of lighting fixtures was created in 1925/1926 by Poul Henningsen for an exhibition in Paris. The designer was determined to produce glare free lighting that was directed where it was needed most while creating soft shadows. The three shade system creates an even distribution of light as each shade reduces the light equally due to their distance from the light source. This is the first lamp to have been created using the scientific model of the logarithmic spiral as a basis for light distribution. There have been approximately one thousand variations of the original lamp with several floor, table, wall, and pendant versions currently available. The PH 80 Floor Lamp was put into production on what was to be Poul Hennigsen’s 80th birthday. Henningsen was fascinated with the new world of plastics so the PH 80 is constructed of Acrylic. This makes for a less expensive product without compromising light quality. It has a 9 foot electrical cord with an inline foot switch and accepts a 100W max E26 base bulb (not included)

The upper metal shaft can be adjusted in height and the striking cross-shaped base, exuding Miguel Milá ’s creation, is the same size as the lower circumference of the shade. Unadulterated simplicity without surrendering to pointless frills.

  • Artemide Solium Floor Lamp
    ylighting.com
Design by Karim Rashid.By Artemide. "I envisioned Solium to be the negative of light. It stands boldly and sensually, as sultry as Sophia Loren. The shade flays out from an undulating base. The concave surface casts a glow of light which bounces off the lamp and projects on to the wall. The elegant thin shell is constructed out of fiberglass to create an extremely lightweight, and long lasting sculptural object" - Karim Rashid 2013 A single material and a single manufacturing process produce a synthesis between the frame and the optical unit. Fiberglass - a sustainable, ultralight, strong, and long-lasting material - optimizes both the luminous performance and the shape. The appliance body itself works as a reflector that, coupled with a dedicated optical unit, results into high light-diffusing efficiency. Design by Tom Dixon.Blown like bubble gum into a mould, these plastic spheres are metalized internally to give a mirrored finish. This internal metallic design focuses the brightness from the lamp, projecting a soft, broad beam of light. The external chrome surface has the added benefit of making the exterior highly reflective providing further character to an interior space. Mirror Ball is formed using a technically advanced process of vacuum metallisation. The process involves vaporizing a small amount of pure metal at a very high temperature and then sucking it on to a surface by applying an electrical charge. Extremely small holes can appear at times within the metal coating due to environmental conditions. The Mirror Ball floor lamp comes with 157" of clear cord with on/off foot switch for use on the floor and with the Tripod Stand fitting for use with the Tripod Stand.
