  • Gubi Turbo Pendant
    shophorne.com
Louis Weisdorf's Turbo Pendant, was created in 1965. It was first put into production in 1967 and has achieved great success over the years. It illustrates design at its best: it is simple in form, yet complex in structure and combines a sense of airiness and strength in a beautiful sculptural whole. The inspiration for the lamp is the lightness of the Japanese rice paper lamp but in a more durable and sturdy version. The outer curve of the lamp is made of 12 similar aluminum spiral lamellae that form a flower-like globe that shields the light of the bulb, and the vertical lamellae prevent gathering of dust. The Turbo Pendant is Louis Weisdorf's first product for Gubi.

The designer was determined to produce glare free lighting that was directed where it was needed most while creating soft shadows. The three shade system creates an even distribution of light as each shade reduces the light equally due to their distance from the light source. This is the first lamp to have been created using the scientific model of the logarithmic spiral as a basis for light distribution. There have been approximately one thousand variations of the original lamp with several floor, table, wall, and pendant versions currently available. The PH 4/3 Pendant is shipped with a white ceiling canopy, 12 feet of installation cable and accepts a 100W max A19 base bulb (not included).

  • Louis Poulsen Patera Pendant Light
    ylighting.com
Design by ?ivind Slaatto, 2015.By Louis Poulsen. "Patera was born of my fascination with the Fibonacci sequence. You can find the spiral pattern wherever you look in nature - in the seed formation in sunflowers and pine cones..." relates ?ivind Slaatto regarding the source of inspiration for his new light. This natural focal point and ball-shaped pendant floats like a majestic focal point in the room, spreading light in all directions. Its detailed design features a host of circles, angles and holes. Patera emits a soft, pleasant light, whose secret lies in its intricate design: the light consists of a variety of differently positioned cells, which ensure that the correct angles are applied to the visor lines of the light and guard against all unpleasant glare. At the same time, the structure staggers the visual center of Patera, consistently providing new impressions of the light when viewed from different angles. The pleasant light emitted by Patera suits a variety of contexts: everything from dining table settings, halls and entrances, to reception areas and meeting rooms. Patera illuminates people around it in a credible, natural light, without generating inappropriate shadows on their faces. Stylistically, the light is simultaneously simple and refined, which means that it blends seamlessly into most interior design set-ups, modern and classical alike. Patera is available in a diameter of 23.6" (600 mm), and is made of white synthetic material. The entire assembly process is carried out by hand. Patera is light and airy, making it simple to install in a great many settings. Patera is supplied with an E26 fitting, which allows the use of a variety of light sources, including LED. The light is also available with an integrated LED solution.
