June 22; It's Rodeo time here in Texas. Head on down to the fairgrounds for quality family fun and first class barbeque. Make sure you stay the entire day because when the real cowboys leave the stadium, Jason Aldean is stopping by to play a few songs.
“Peter, come on! We have to have some barbeque, this is Texas!” I say excitedly as I pull him towards the barbeque area, grinning.
“Woah, babe…slow down.” Peter says, laughing as he pulls my body into his. “I don’t remember the last time I saw you this excited, Len.”
“What can I say; I just really like barbeque and country music.” I say softly, smiling up at him. “Is that a problem?”
“Of course not.” He smiles, planting a soft kiss on my lips. “Let’s go get some barbeque.”
I squeeze Peter’s hand, pulling him through the crowded fairground. “An’ some iced tea, of course.”
“But of course, darling.”
“Gosh, I’m so hungry. Must be the summer air.” I murmur, not really meaning to say my thought out loud.
“Must be, babe.” Peter says, smiling as he kisses the top of my head.
“Oh my goodness, I didn’t mean to say that out loud. How embarrassin’.” I laugh softly, feeling myself start to blush. “Woops.”
Peter laughs, pulling his wallet out of his pocket. “Mm, it’s okay. Don’t worry about it.”
“If you say so.” I smile, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek as we approach one of the various barbeque setups. “One half rack of ribs, a barbeque chicken sandwich, an’ two iced teas.”
Peter pays the man and collects our food, leading us over to one of the picnic tables. “Cheers, babe.” He says, tapping his iced tea against mine before he takes a sip, smiling. “Eat up.”
“You too, Len.”
I nod over at him, waiting a moment before I take a bite of my sandwich, chewing it slowly. “Mm, this is so good. I love barbeque.” I say happily as I eat, grinning over at Peter.
“We’ll have to have barbeque at our wedding then.”
I nod happily; smiling some more as Peter starts to eat his ribs. “I’ll have ta be careful not ta get anythin’ on my wedding dress.”
“I’m sure you’ll be fine.” Peter says, smiling back at me as he licks some barbeque sauce off of his fingers. “Texas really does have the best barbeque.”
“Mhmm, it does.”
After we finish eating we make sure that our hands and faces are clean before we head over to where Jason Aldean is going to be singing, spending the rest of the afternoon enjoying each other’s company and some good old fashioned country music.
