You are going to look so cute in them...can't wait to see the fun sets you come up with for these! Now you've really inspired me and I'm going to have to shop for a pair of fall shorts tomorrow!

Thanks so much, btb! I thought the same thing...they have a skirt look to them which actually makes me feel a little more confident b/c I'm more used to wearing skirts and tights vs. shorts and tights! And with a longer blazer or cardi, it cuts down on the "side flare." I have a couple chunky sweaters that I think will work great with them. I won't tuck my tops in with these b/c I'm short waisted, but I think that helps cut down on the flare effect, too. OK...I'm feeling better about them now! lol Thanks again!! xx

Oooh kw, I really like the Theory shorts! I see what you mean that they are a little fuller than some shorts, but I think that almost gives them a mini look without the worry of "revealing" too much. I definitely would go with them instead of the Gap pair. The beautiful colors in the Theory shorts along with the nicer fabric make them worth it IMHO. I think you would look fab in them, especially with a blazer or cable knit sweater! :)

btb...It took me awhile to find a clip of the Theory shorts. I think they're from last year. Here's the PV pic: http://www.polyvore.com/shariann_tweed_shorts/thing?id=22193143 They don't look as full/swingy on me for some reason. If I had seen that pic, I would have passed on them! Gap has a pair of gray cuffed shorts that I could get for 20 some dollars with a coupon next week that are more "subdued" looking. That would save me $60 but they are a polyester blend whereas the Theory shorts are wool, silk and spandex and such a great deal. And I love the color of the Theory shorts (tweed with specks of black, gray, ivory). But I worry about being self-conscious in them--esp. after seeing them on the model! If they look like that on me, I'm not quite that fashion-y and I worry I won't be able to carry them off! What do you think? Thx for your advice!! :)

ghoulnextdoor- thanks for chiming in! Now that you mention it, tights will cover a multitude of sins! :D

Lovely! And I agree with the consensus...as a matter of fact ladies out of their teens or twenties seem like a perfect candidate for this look. At 35 I would definite say that my legs look better in tights :)

justvisiting- thanks for your input, you are always so helpful. I guess I'd better take the hot pants and thigh-high boots back to the store! hee hee ;) kittywitty- I can't believe I missed your set with the shorts and tights...I will definitely check it out. Congrats on the great find yesterday! Can you clip a pic of the Theory shorts? I'd love to see what they look like and how you plan to wear them this fall!

beyondtheblue...I stopped in Marshalls yesterday and happened to find a pair of wool tweed shorts by Theory that are so adorable! Not to mention they were $79.99 (orig. $215)! I took that as a sign that I was supposed to have them since I've been eyeballing the JC ones. :) I tried them at home with tights and I thought it looked great! Not age-inappropriate at all. I'm definitely going to be wearing them this fall/winter. I hope you do, too!

I personally love this look. I made a similar set a few weeks ago and asked for opinions, too, since I'm almost 39 (yikes!). I was told to go for it! I think with oxfords/flats or even heeled booties and covered up on top it works. I'm obsessed with J Crew's tweed shorts even though they're $118. I'm trying to save up and get them b/c I really want to wear this look!

This is a pretty conservative look so I think it's safe. Now if you were wearing hot pants and knee high boots I'd say probably not. ;) I love this look too!
