  • Olivares Aluminum Chair By Knoll
    SOLD OUT: More info
    On a quest to create a perfect outdoor chair, Jonathan Olivares has designed a chair that is not too heavy, not too light, more comfortable than anything else, and smart enough should it make its way inside. The chair is constructed with a cast aluminum shell and extruded aluminum legs, allowing the chair to achieve its thin profile and organic shape without compromising its durability. Designed to give any space a jolt of color, the chair is offered in a lively palette of bright, electric hues. After graduating from Pratt Institute and the New School, Jonathan Olivares established his own design studio Jonathan Olivares Design Research (JODR) in 2006. The firm deploys a multi-angle approach to product and exhibition design, and research. For the research arm of his design consultancy, Olivares has completed an analysis of the American furniture industry for Domus, and a survey of the history of office chairs, supported by Knoll, and published in 2011 by Phaidon as “A Taxonomy of Office Chairs.” For the Olivares Aluminum Chair, developed for Knoll, Olivares eventually specified a die-cast aluminum shell, a technique that allows for optimum comfort, durability, and weight. Features: Suitable for outdoor use. Shell is constructed of die-cast aluminum with outdoor powder coat paint. Leg tenons are integrated in the shell and a subtle reveal transitions the shell to the extruded aluminum legs. Legs are secured to the shell using epoxy and stainless steel fasteners. Chairs stack 6 high on the floor and 10 high on optional dolly. Stacking bumper distributes the chair’s weight over a wide area. Designer’s signature and the KnollStudio logo are located under the seat. Nylon glides included. GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified. More fabric and color options are available;

  • Moroso Nanook - Chair
    SOLD OUT: More info
The Nanook collection is composed of a chair, an armchair and a low table. It is a study of the transition from two to three dimensions based on observing the tanning process of a quadruped's hide. The chair's upholstery should be seen as a sign, a trace, a memory of the animal, the transfiguration of its skin. This taut skin evokes memories of the animal it once was. The same skin, pleated, gives us the three-dimensionality of a chair or armchair. Its basic shape is a hexagonal arrangement inspired by molecular geometry or a snowflake. The chair's upholstery is a natural skin. Nature's rigorous geometry inspires its shape. Like the animal skins Inuit peoples wear for protection, Nanook's technical-fabric upholstery has tribal echoes. The pleated, three-dimensional skin is transformed into a contemporary object through the use of digital printing for the upholstery, and moulded synthetic material for the frame. Nanook seating - whose name derives from the protagonist of the first nature documentary in film history - preserves tribal memories while looking to the future and to technology with the same optimism with which Nanook observed his icy environment. WARNING: This product is an exhibition model that was presented in a partnership: it may have slight defects due to its use (slight scratches ...). In detail: Colour : Blue - Green. Material : Varnished steel - Beechwood plywood. Dimensions : W 53 cm x D 48 cm x H 77 cm - Seat : D 40 cm x H 44 cm.

    SOLD OUT: More info
Design Ross Lovegrove, 2005. Fiberglass reinforced polypropylene. Made in Italy by Moroso. "This new stackable chair has a structure that is the result of an evolution, more than of a design process." -Ross Lovegrove. Supernatural is an important innovation in technology while introducing a design product that offers excellent value for the money. Lovegrove suggests this chair "represents a new vision of form, generated by digital data, resulting in a chair to be used every day, slender, lively and healthy. The liquid, organic nature of its form combines the beauty of the human anatomy with the most advanced process of industrialization of 21st-century polymers". The Supernatural is proposed in two versions, with solid or perforated back. "The perforations also have the purpose of adding a multi-sensory effect to the chairs when light passes over them to create shadows that enrich the space and thus offer the architectural surfaces unexpected levels of beauty". • Menu Afterroom chair
    SOLD OUT: More info
The first Menu chair ever is a three-legged one, and it's the result of deconstructing an item, piece by piece, with the purpose of obtaining an original design. The chair is created by Taiwanese duo: Hung-Ming Chen and Chen-Yen Wei, also known as Afteroom. Operating from their Stockholm-based design studio their inspiration derives from an intriguing interest of forms, senses, proportions, materials and cultures. And with a clear and non-compromising aesthetic vision, they take the meaning of simplistic design to a whole new level. "The Afteroom Chair is an homage to Bauhaus and functionalism. The simplicity of its design combined with the quality of materials is what's important. We embraced the challenge of designing something minimalistic with clean lines, without in any way compromise its comfort. In that sense we've looked towards classic Scandinavian features as inspiration", says Hung-Ming. The rounded details such as the seat and flexible back support, both in wood, contrast the solid steel frame. And when looking at the chair, it's difficult to differentiate what is what, due to the designers' attention to detail. Chen-Yen Wei: "Afteroom Chair is based on the concept of reducing the amount of materials to the minimum and by doing so pushing the aesthetic appearance to the maximum. It's a designer's job to develop functional objects without compromising the aesthetics and it's important never to look back, unless it's for the purpose of finding very good references, of course. In detail: Type : Chair. Colour : Black. Material : Powder coated Steel, Wood. Dimensions : W 43 cm x D 54 cm x H 77 cm. Characteristics : 3 legs.

  • Fritz Hansen 3-Leg Ant Chair - Color
    SOLD OUT: More info
Design Arne Jacobsen, 1952. Steel, laminated wood. Made in Denmark by Fritz Hansen. Despite its minimalist and svelte form, the Ant chair by Arne Jacobsen is extremely comfortable due to its shell design while achieving a beauty and elegance which has made Jacobsen's first stacking chair one of his best-known designs. Although a revolutionary design, the Ant was not an immediate hit when first launched by Fritz Hansen in 1952. The chair had only 3 legs and no arms! The back and seat are made of one piece of laminated wood with 9 layers of molded veneer and 2 layers of cotton textile in-between. The lamination process coupled with the qualities inherent in the wood make the Ant flexible enough to adjust to the body's contours and movements. The Ant is a stackable, wooden chair on a thin chrome base with a choice of either natural wood veneer or colors in lacquer or lazur. Arne Jacobsen was very productive both as an architect and as a designer. His cooperation with Fritz Hansen dates back to 1934. • Moroso Rift Cantiliever Chair With Seat Cushion
    SOLD OUT: More info
Design Patricia Urquiola, 2009. Self-skin polyurethane, steel base, upholstered seat cushion. Made in Italy by Moroso. Rift, to borrow the geological term for crack or fissure, is a seating system which cuts across the contemporary domestic living space. Unlike modular systems which are based on the rational use of geometry, Rift is built around an unexpected and asymmetric positioning of different volumes, an intentional randomness inspired by the unpredictability of nature. Multiple layers form relaxed seating, designed for the individual yet perfect for the public places: like tectonic plates, the different layers tend to collide and overlap giving a highly original impression of movement , transforming even the most formal space into something fluid yet without ever altering its character. Born in Oviedo, Patricia Urquiola attended the Madrid Polytechnic and the Milan Polytechnic Universities where she graduated in 1989 with Achille Castiglioni as her supervisor of whom she was assistant at the Milan Polytechnic from 1990 to 1992. She has worked with many great talents and a plethora of companies worldwide. This brilliant Spanish architect is a phenomenon not to be lost sight of. Rift cantilevered chair: 22.75" w | 32.25" h | 20.5" d | seat: 19" h | 15.75" d | 16.5" w. cantilevered chair stacks 4 high.

  • Verner Panton System 1-2-3 Dining Chair in Fabric
    SOLD OUT: More info
“I want to design furniture that grows up out of the floor,” said Verner Panton. “To turn the furniture into something organic. Which never has four legs.” Pushingto their limits was a passion of this Danish architect and designer, who always approached design challenges in unconventional ways. Panton spent three years developing his System 1-2-3 series (1973), which has been rescued from the Panton Estate archives and brought back into production. The 1-2-3 name originally referred to the fact that there were three ways to get it, from a chair without padding to a deluxe leather version. With the relaunch, all of the chairs have the same comfortable padding, and only the upholstery options differ. The 1-2-3 Dining Chair is built on a swivel base for easy entry and exit. Its cantilevered fame delivers pleasing slightly springy support and a gentle waterfall edge behind your knees. This chair is produced under license from the Verner Panton Estate in Basel, Switzerland. Includes a certificate of authenticity and Panton’s signature stamped into the base. Made in Denmark.

  • Magis Cyborg Elegant Armchair With Wicker Back
    SOLD OUT: More info
Design Marcel Wanders, 2011. Air-molded polycarbonate, wicker back. Made in Italy by Magis. A cyborg is an organism that has both artificial and natural systems. The term was coined in 1960 by Manfred Clynes. In 1965, D.S. Halacy's Evolution of the Superman featured an introduction which spoke of a 'bridge...between mind and matter.' Fictional cyborgs are portrayed as a synthesis of organic and synthetic parts. Often their presence calls into question the difference between humans and machines as concerned with morality, free will, and empathy. The friction we feel between the natural and the artificial world is in fact a misconception; as there is no artificial world, there is only a natural world under the influence of its very own nature. Marcel Wanders grew up in Boxtel, the Netherlands and graduated cum laude from the School of the Arts Arnhem in 1988. His fame started with the iconic Knotted Chair in 1996. He is now designing for the biggest European contemporary design manufacturers including Moooi of which he is also art director and co-owner.
