Spalted Maple Cutting Boards- "Spalting” is an effect when water seeps into the wood grain. The stain that results creates a decorative outline that adds visual interest. This is especially evident in trees usually over 100 years old. Boards are made from wood of trees that have naturally fallen. Too nice to cut on? Reserve one side for cutting and one side for presentation. Consider adding a small bowl for nuts, a few wedges of cheese and a small bunch of grapes to serve to friends with wine. Add a Simon Pearce spreader and use to serve pate or spreads. Boards make unique servers. Consider one made up of smoked salmon with capers and red onion slices or and assortment of appetizers or small sandwiches. Use smaller boards for individual servings of cheeses or as an under plate to smaller sampling or tasting menus, such as accents for a wine or scotch tasting. Spaulted Maple Boards. Made in the USA.
