{insert undetermined day of the week here//library and starbucks run}

I heard the barista behind the counter let out a small giggle as she rung up my order, which was the same as it was the day before, and the day before that. But not the day before that, because the day before that I had gone to the cute coffee shop with the even cuter guitar player with the lovely voice.

I smirked, digging through my purse for my wallet, taking a lot longer than usual because it was a new bag and doing anything in fur requires extra time.

"Here, it's on me," said the guy behind me, handing the barista his Starbucks card with a smile.

I glanced up, pushing my hair out of my eyes, to see that it was Trevor, the kid from the library.

And so we meet again...

"Thanks," I said, both to the barista as she handed me my drink and to Trevor.

He shrugged. "No problem."

He didn't say anything after that, so I walked away from the counter and settled in at one of the tables near the door with my books and laptop. I had hardly been there five minutes when I felt his presence next to me.

"Is it cool if I sit here?" Trevor asked, holding up his laptop with the free hand that wasn't holding a Starbucks cup. "All the other tables are full."

I glanced around. And so they were. "Sure," I replied, a little bit stiffly, yet I couldn't decide why I was being so icy towards him.

I made a show of opening my laptop and avoiding eye contact and just completely ignoring him in general, but he seemed to be immune to such things, because after a few minutes, he glanced up at me.

"So, about the other day in the library," he started.

I shrugged. "It's no big deal. It's not like we're friends."

"Well, I just wanted to apologize for having to run out. My brother had asked me to grab something for him at the grocery store and I'd completely forgotten."

I just shrugged again. "You don't have to apologize, Trevor."

"Well, I feel like I ought to."

"Well, thanks," I mumbled, glancing back down at my laptop.

Guilt took only a few seconds to sink in.

"I'm sorry," I mumbled. "I've just been in a weird mood lately."

He smiled and I felt a small one creep up on my face. "It's okay. Can we start over?" I nodded. "I'm Trevor," he said, holding out his hand.

"Alexandra, your new study buddy," I replied, reaching out to shake his hand. It was warm and kind of soft but kind of rough at the same time. I blushed.
