  • Normann Copenhagen Ace Chair
    shophorne.com
Flat-packed upholstered lounge furniture sounds like a crazy idea. Hans Hornemann considered it a requirement that the function did not involve any compromise with the design. Ace is constructed from molded plywood, covered with molded foam for the highest possible comfort. The back is flexible, which gives it a springy feeling, ensuring great sitting comfort. In order to reach the goal of this ambitious project, Normann Copenhagen has specially developed production tools, brackets, screws, legs and fabrics. Ace combines intelligent engineering with an elegant visual impression. Ace is delivered in two attractive fabrics, a vibrant velour and a flecked wool textile, as well as soft, exclusive leather. The woollen textile, “Nist”, has been developed in-house by Normann Copenhagen to complete the characteristic visual style. Nist is manufactured using an untraditional weaving technique and contains 52 percent linen, which produces an attractive natural flecking of the fabric. The velour brings Ace a seductive elegance, while Nist gives the chair a more stringent, masculine look. Ace has legs in stained beech, in the same colour tones as the fabrics for a uniform expression. The stain allows the wood’s natural flame patterns to shine through and adds a discrete play to the monochrome colour universe consisting of five inviting shades. In addition to the Ace lounge chair, the Ace collection includes a sofa, a dining table chair and a footstool. Legs: Stained Beech (for Textile), Painted Oak (for Black Leather) or Lacquered Oak (for Brandy Leather). Nist Fabric Colors ( 52 % Flax, 45 % Virgin Wool 3 % Polyamide): Velour Fabric Colors (100% Polyester): Leather:
  • Normann Copenhagen Era Sofa
    shophorne.com
Normann Copenhagen expands the popular Era lounge series, designed by Simon Legald, with a two-seat sofa with well- proportioned design, a sharp silhouette and a contemporary expression. The series' DNA is clearly evident in the sofa's soft curves and sleek lines, which express a sophisticated calm that invites the sitter to pure and unreserved relaxation. The small sofa is once again highly relevant after several years dominated by larger sofas. Its simple design, with tight-fitted upholstery and wooden legs originated back in the blossoming functionalism of the 1930s and '40s, as a rebellion against the bulky, Victorian style of the time. Today, there is a growing need for more flexible furnishings - in public as well as private spaces. Many factors, including less space, many different activities and a need to be online have affected our way of being together. This has created a need for personal space for the individual within the room. The practical size of the Era sofa allows it to easily accommodate furnishing needs in both large and small homes. This is combined with an incredibly strong construction that makes it well-suited for public spaces. The series combines modern manufacturing methods with traditional furniture craftsmanship in a timeless and characterful design. Simon Legald has this to say about the sofa: "It took a long time to get the proportions and the interplay between the soft curves and the tight lines of the shell completely right. It was crucial, that the upholstery and the stitching was carried out with the utmost artisanal precision. One nice detail, for example, is that we did not use canvas, but instead upholstered the sofa with textile across the entire shell. For the seat cushion, we have prioritized a solution using custom-cut foam, so that it sits perfectly inside the seat." Just like the series' lounge chairs; the Era sofa is available with a frame in oak, walnut, black lacquered steel or chrome, and with a rocking frame in chrome. Choose between three gorgeous woolen textiles with a vibrant expression and beautiful structure, or soft and resilient leather in a countless variety of color. The era sofa is available in other textile and colors in addition to the Breeze Fusion textile shown below. Please contact us regarding other colors. The Haringe series of teak furniture is refined elegance for indoors, outdoors or anything in between. The sophistication of the series makes it ideal for around the swimming pool, in the game room or just about anywhere. The teak slats are framed with either stainless steel or black stainless steel. The cushions are given a sophisticated touch through the use of buttons and decorative stitching so they are not waterproof but the beauty is still undeniable. The cushions are available in either a weather durable Sunbrella fabric or in imitation leather with loose patches sewn together by hand and buttons added along the seams. The leather cushions are for indoor use only. The series has an armchair, lounge chair, sofa, and cocktail tables in 2 sizes as well as 3 sizes of a dining table. As with all teak furniture, to maintain the original luster the teak requires to be oiled once or twice a year. If left untreated the wood will develop a silvery gray patina which is equally beautiful.

  • Stephen Kenn Military Canvas Sofa - Canvas & Marbled Brown Finish
    shophorne.com
Los Angeles based designer Stephen Kenn has long been inspired by clean and simple design aesthetics and the stories inherent in vintage military fabrics. In 2011 he combined those two loves by creating The Inheritance Collection. The collection was the result of an exploration of how furniture is constructed, and then a desire to distill the process down to the barest bones. Likening the process of furniture construction to the way the human body is constructed, the frame, belts, and cushions became the bones, muscles, and skin of each piece. Composed of a steel welded frame with a marbled brown finish, custom webbing belts, smooth leather straps and re-purposed WWII military fabric for the cushion covers. Each piece is unique, and carries small imperfections, hand-repaired tears, and markings from the soldiers who originally used the material. The shade of olive canvas will vary from piece to piece.
  • Design House Stockholm Bjork Pouf/Stool
    shophorne.com
The Bjork series and its patterned structure offer a modern and enriched textile quality that is beautifully paired with stylish leather detailing. The designer, Lena Bergstrom's, conviction is that the flat textile surface of a rug is just as natural in the home as stone and wood: "The [pouf] is a natural part of the Björk collection, just like the stumps in a birch forest. They are a piece of furniture that is light and soft in its expression." For the Bjork pouf, Lena has drawn inspiration from the rough black and white graphical structure of the birch tree's trunk. The color tones of Bjork create a marbled effect through a warp of cotton intertwined with a weft in wool, known not only for its softness, but also for its in-built resistance to dirt.
  • Mater Mango Wood Bowl Table - Extra Large
    shophorne.com
An adaptation of traditional wooden lacquer trays, this table is multifunctional and comes in a knock down form. The legs easily detach to help reduce the energy spent on transporting material from various parts of the world, and to allow the table to be used as a bowl, tray or table. The idea is inspired by objects that are simple and had multiple applications, and yet were not burdens on the planet. The shape of the mango table is derived from traditional kneading bowls that used to be lacquered in bright red, and were found extensively across south of India. The mango table has a top made from the wood of a fruit tree. It is grown and tended for, and once the productive life of the tree is over, it is cut down and another one is planted. Incidentally, mango, as a fruit is widely consumed across the country hence the wood is plentiful. It is turned manually on the lathe, showcasing the skill of the `kharaadi' or the wood turning community, thereby supporting local skills. The legs are made of mild steel, machined out of rods. The finishing is done with lead free water based PU lacquers, thereby respecting the local environment.

  • Normann Copenhagen Sumo Pouf
    shophorne.com
For Normann Copenhagen designer Simon Legald has created a pouf in a class of its own. Sumo’s simple expression makes it easy to spot the details and complexity of the upholstery and stitching, and the materials – wood, textiles and buttons – have been playfully combined. The visual expression is robust and friendly. The inspiration behind Sumo originates from the classic Danish furniture industry, in which special attention is paid to the details and craftsmanship in order to create the perfect balance between aesthetics and functionality. Simon Legald says; “I enjoy working with techniques which are necessary for the design and instead of hiding them, I like to include them as part of the design. The stitching, upholstery and buttons therefore play an important part in the otherwise simple design. I have also deliberately rounded the square shape slightly to make the expression soft and pleasing to the eye.” Sumo is a multifunctional piece of furniture and can be used as an extension to the sofa, a feature in the bedroom or a stool in the entrance hall.
