The color palette was dark and perfectly moody at Susan Woo’s Fall 2013 presentation—an almost seamless complement to the day’s snowy weather. The designer, who recently took home the coveted the Ecoo Domani Award for Sustainable Design, showcased her lineup of wool wrap coats with leather sleeves (she uses the whole cow and is dedicated to natural resources) and structured pencil skirts, intentionally reminiscent of what a modern-day anti-princess might wear. “Look at all the movies that are out lately, Snow White and the Huntsman is a great example—I’m taking these soft, fun stories and making them gritty and dark,” Woo says of her inspiration. “Women are strong these days and they don’t need a Prince Charming.”
