This one-of-a-kind Resistenza has patterns with a scarlet center surrounded by rings of latte and salmon outlined by tiny threads of scarlet and sunflower yellow. Highlights in a range of complimentary veiled and ballotini cane. This piece is large and substantial being double-encased in clear glass for great depth and stability.

It is said that in 1973, while Oiva Toikka was in his study in Nuutajarvi Finland, a bird flew onto his window ledge. It was a rare bird, one he had not seen before in these parts and he began to sculpture it's image in glass. The bird amazingly came back day after day. Professor Toikka continued on to finish it's image in glass. The creation of the bird demanded great technical and artistic insight. He finished his work and just as strange as that particular bird being there, the bird disappeared and did not return. Professor Toikka has continued since then creating his birds, at least one a year since 1973. His birds are hand made and each one is unique featuring its own distinctive colour vatiations. His pieces are highly sought after as gifts and collector's pieces. Each bird is personally signed as proof of authenticity. The little town of Nuutajarvi has been a glass making village for over two hundred years.
