if you're lazy like i am, and the thought of workouts makes you bored already, then this is for you! not everyone has the time, patience, or determination to do a real workout. whether it's going off to your local gym or doing crunches on your bedroom floor, sometimes we just don't want to. here are a few things that are easy & fun, plus they can easily fit in to your busy schedule!
O1. calf raises
calf raises can be done almost anywhere if you're standing up. just go on your tippy-toes and come back down. no need for jumping or anything crazy like that, just go up, then come down. that's one! try doing 10-20 while waiting for the lunch line to move forward, 30-50 while waiting for your shower to warm up, and 15 if you're stuck outside a classroom waiting for that oh-so-slow teacher to let you in!
O2. wall sits!
i bet you just said "oh dear.... i hate wall sits." well so did i, back during volleyball season. but i found a way to actually enjoy them! for wall sits, you need a FLAT, EVEN SURFACE to stand (sit) on, and a clear wall. if you don't know how to do wall sits, all you do is act like you're sitting in the chair, with your back against the wall.
with wall sits, it's best to set a goal. for first-timers, try for two minutes. it's not that hard, really. shoot for 5 minutes a day. that's two two-minute sessions and one one-minute session. take however much break time you need! no pressure there. i usually go for about 3-4 minutes in between. now, grab a timer, and let's make them interesting! here are some fun ideas:
- love music? then grab your ipod and put on your favorite song. that eliminates the need for a timer. that way, it can help keep your mind off the fact that it's work.
- love video games like i do? grab your DS, PSP, or any other gaming device. get in position, start the timer, and play away!
- new edition of seventeen just came in? grab your timer and flip it open! chances are, you'll want to finish the page/article, which will make you sit longer!
O3. crunches // sit-ups
i know, i know. i said they were boring. but they help a ton! just put on some music and get started! try for either 35 crunches or 20 sit-ups.
hope that helped a bit. comments/feedback is appreciated!
