I was getting ready to go to the spa with the rest of the girls, when my phone rang unexpectedly on the table. I grabbed it, my purse as well, and walked towards the door. "Hello?"
"Can we talk?" It was Miles and he sounded rather concerned.
"Yeah, we can talk." I said, shrugging, heading outside. I pushed the door open and stood there for a while, waiting for him to start.
"I mean, let's meet up and talk in person. We need to." He said, now more firm and serious.
"Uh," I stammered, "I was just heading to the spa to meet up with the girls."
"It's just a talk. Don't put our relationship behind us, please."
"They're my friends." I was a little annoyed now.
"Yeah, but like I said, it's just a talk. I promise not to take up much of your time."
I sighed, and then agreed. "Fine. Where?"
"Your place." He stated.
"Uh, alright." I groaned, ending the call. I had just gotten out and now I had to go back into my own building. I waited on my couch for a knock.
It came about ten minutes later, and I opened it to see Miles standing there. He walked in and stopped halfway. He turned around and I shut the door. "Why aren't you telling me anything?" He said, running his fingers through his hair.
"What do you mean?" My heart pounded. I knew exactly what he meant.
"I don't want to have to find out from some gossip page." He sighed.
I looked at him, trying to defend myself. "Why would you believe some gossip page?"
"It's not just the gossip page that's been telling me stuff, Lauren. Reading some scandal on the internet is not even the point. Just be honest with me." He said, moving closer to rub my shoulders. "Please. I was honest with you."
"Yeah," I sighed, "you were honest. And you made it sound like you liked it. That you didn't even do anything to stop it or something." I started to feel the tears rise.
"God, no! I told you the truth and I didn't feel anything!" He sighed, pacing back and forth now across the large area of space.
"Okay, you know what? I left with someone that night at the club." I blurted out angrily.
He stopped and abruptly turned to face me. "Yeah? Who?"
"Cam Gigandet." I simply said.
Miles shut his eyes and rest his hand on his face. He looked like he was trying to control himself. "Well, at least now I know." He muttered, and started to walk towards my front door.
"At least now you know? That's all you have to say?!" I said, the tears already streaming down my face. "God, Miles, I regret it! I do!" I followed him as he took long strides.
"Yeah, and so do I." He sighed. He reached for the handle and opened the door, but before stepping out, he turned around. "You know, I try to be with you, Lauren. But you won't be mine."
"Miles, I am yours." I cried. "I'm all yours."
He leaned forward and pulled my face to his, but he just kissed my hair. "Don't cry. We'll talk again later. Go meet with your friends." He whispered, and then shut the door as he left.
Goodness, what did I do?
