Day six of Fashion Week brought some of the most exciting collections we’ve seen yet, and although the designers were very different, the basic message was the same: For spring 2013, texture and embellishment are key.
We began the day with the gorgeously frothy gowns at Badgley Mischka; everything was glitzy, bold, over the top, and jaw-droppingly pretty.
Then for a little change of pace, Vera Wang sent out a collection that went far beyond the perfect cuts and feminine detailing that have made her the last name in wedding gowns. Unusually hued swathes of lace, perfect ruching, and rich silks took the day.
Later in the day, we got a peek at Rodarte, which, as always, was a tour de force of stylistic imagination, loaded with fringe and amazing embroidery. And other the other side of the coin, Candela provided us with a collection that was simply pretty and easy on the eyes, all boho chic silhouettes and relaxed fabrics.
There’s not too much Fashion Week left, so stay tuned for our next update!
