With summer quickly approaching, what better way to start off the season than with a quick tip on how to rock one of the most seemingly simplest trends that tends to stump even the most knowledgeable fashion experts. Here is how to pull off statement shorts!!

1) Choosing the right pair:
In order to pull off this trend, you need the right pair of statement shorts for you. Statement shorts, in a nutshell, are a pair of shorts that feature a bright color, bold pattern, or details that make them stand out.
First, you must choose the right pair for your body type. There are many resources out there to help with that, so do your research!
Now for the fun part! Statement shorts are becoming more and more popular these days, so finding a pair won't be so hard. Stores like Forever 21, Charlotte Russe, and H&M should carry some. Look for ones that YOU like, and have fun!

2) Coordination
This is the tricky part. Coordination is KEY when trying this trend. Here are some tips to get you started.
- don't place pattern on pattern or it will look too busy. If you have floral shorts, choose a solid color shirt with nice detailing. Avoid mixing patterns unless you really know what you're doing.
- keep the colors from looking clownish. In the first example both the shirt and shorts carry hot pink, but notice that the shirt is simple enough to allow the shorts to shine. Don't go color crazy, keep to a smaller palette to allow your statement piece to make a statement.
- you can have 2 statement pieces
In the last example, the Shortalls and celestial sneakers are statement pieces, but for different reasons. The Shortalls are simple, but their design is what makes them stand out. The sneakers are a pop of color, which balances the simplicity of the Shortalls. Keep a balance between statement pieces.

That's all the tips I have for you today, I hope you learned how to rock statement shorts!! Feel free to pm me with any questions.
