I hope chu like it! c:
"It's been two and a half years."
You look away from the TV and over to Liam, "Since..."
He smiles, "Since we met each other."
You match his smile, "You mean it's been two and a half years since you saved me from drowning."
He chuckles, "That's another way to put it."
You laugh too and rest your head on his shoulder, as the memories of that day start to run through your mind.
"Ugh, I really need to learn how to swim," you say to yourself as you walk along the edge of the lake trying to get to the parking lot. You would've been walking farther away from the lake, but there was way too many people there and there was hardly anybody along the edge of the lake.
You turn your head, glancing at the water that was taunting you, practically screaming that you couldn't swim.
"I just hope I don't fa-" you didn't even get to finish your sentence, as you slip and fall into the lake.
As soon as you fall into the lake, you start to sink, not being able to move, and of course not being able to relax and let yourself float.
"That girl just fell in the lake!" you hear a faint voice say.
You try with all of your might to try to get to the surface, but fail.
"She's not coming up! I don't think she can swim!" is the last thing you hear before you pass out.
Liam runs through the crowd of people and jumps into the lake, grabbing you by your waist, bringing you to the surface, and onto the side of the lake, where everyone made room for the two of you. Niall, Zayn, Louis, and Harry were the closest to the both of you.
"Is she breathing?" Niall asks.
"I think she needs some air," Zayn says.
Liam looks down at you, "I'll give her mouth to mouth resuscitation."
The other four guys look at each other, but Liam didn't wait for anyone to object or say anything else. He pushes your chest gently, trying to get any excess water out. After that, he brings his face close to yours and places his lips on top of yours giving you two breaths. He checks to see if you were breathing. Nothing. He leans back in and starts to breathe in again, this time you regain consciousness and open your eyes, to see Liam with his face still only centimeters away.
Your eyes grow big, recognizing Liam Payne as soon as you opened your eyes.
He smiles down at you, "Don't suppose you still need me to give you some more air?"
You shake your head, not even remembering how to speak.
He chuckles and stands up, before helping you up as well, "Well that's too bad, I was kind of enjoying it."
You blush as everyone leaves and Harry wraps a towel around you.
"I'm guessing you don't know how to swim?" Liam asks, as he puts his arm around your shoulders and leading you to a chair.
You shake your head in embarrassment.
"I like you already," Zayn says with a chuckle.
You laugh as you sit down.
"Hey back of Zayn, Liam kissed her first," Louis says with a cheeky smile.
Liam shoots a glare at Louis, which only makes him laugh.
"I guess we better get you home," Liam says, before picking you up bridal style.
"I can walk," you say, feeling your blush grow bigger.
"You lost your shoes in the water. I don't want your feet to get any more dirt than what they already have," Liam says with a smile.
"She can use mine!" Harry offers.
"Your shoes are dirty!" Liam answers.
You smile, as Liam looks at you and smiles back.
"Rhonda?" you hear Liam's voice say, bringing you out of your thoughts.
"Why don't we go to that lake?"
You look up at him, your face confused, "What? Why?"
"For old times sake," Liam says with a smile.
"You know I still haven't learned to swim," you say, looking at the TV.
"Oh come on! You don't even have to go into the lake! We'll just walk and sit down and-"
"I mean I'M not even going to get into the water, it's probably freezing, and-"
His face lights up, "Really?"
You smile and nod as he hugs you.
You get up, "I'll go get ready."
He nods and stands up too, "I'll be back in a bit."
You nod as he leaves, and you let out a sigh as he closes the door.
You go upstairs, put on a fresh change of clothes, decide not to put on any makeup, except lipgloss, put on your shoes, and grab your purse.
You look in the mirror one last time, before hearing the doorbell ring.
You smile and make your way downstairs. Truth was, you had feelings for Liam as more than a friend. Of course you were a directioner before he saved your life, but ever since that day, your feelings for him have grown stronger, which you didn't even think was possible, but you didn't know if he felt the same. Sure you were best friends, but nothing ever happened between the two of you that made it seem like he wanted to be more, except maybe those cute moments you two shared once in a while.
You open the door to reveal Liam wearing your favorite jeans, shirt, shoes, and jacket on him. Well, he made anything look good, you just though he looked incredible in what he was wearing right now. You couldn't help but smile wide, and he matched his smile, knowing that everything he was wearing was your favorite clothes on him.
"Shall we go?" Liam asks, extending out his arm.
You smile and link your arm with his, "We shall."
You close the door behind you, before getting into the car and driving off with Liam.
Once you two get there, you both get out and spread out the blanket that Liam brought, and instantly start talking and laughing like there's no tomorrow.
"Hey I forgot something in the car, I'll be right back," Liam says, standing up.
You nod, before watching him walk away.
You stand up and start waking along the edge of the lake, this time doing it on purpose, because it wasn't as full as last time and there was a lot less of a chance of you falling into the lake.
You look at the lake, 'I REALLY need to learn how to swim, and more importantly, learn how to get over my fear of this lake,' you think to yourself as you let out a sigh.
'One step at a time,' you decide, before taking off one of your boots and socks.
You get closer to the lake and slowly dip your foot in the water, the coldness of it sending shivers down your spine. Ever since that day you almost drowned, you had been terrified of even the thought of going back to this lake.
'That wasn't so bad,' you decide. At that moment you loose your footing since you only had one foot on the ground, with the other one in the lake, and you fall into the freezing water.
Not being able to do anything with the water being so cold, you hold your breath for as long you could, before blacking out, Liam's voice faintly calling your name being the last thing you heard.
Liam looks at the lake and he instantly takes off his shirt, shoes, and pants, runs and jumps into it as soon as he realizes what happens, dropping the roses and box he had in his hands.
He finds you pretty quickly and brings you back to the surface.
"Don't worry Rhonda. You'll be alright," Liam says quietly as he begins the procedure.
He then continues and puts his lips to yours, giving you air.
On his third time doing this, he starts to get worried, you weren't breathing.
Finally, seconds later, you regain consciousness. A smile spreads across Liam's face as he let's out a sigh of pure relief. He quickly redresses himself, gets the blanket and wraps it around you, hugging you tight so that you could get warm quickly.
"I'm so sorry," you breathe out.
"Why?" Liam says, hugging you a bit tighter.
"For being stupid. If I wasn't over there by the lake, trying to get over my fear of it, I wouldn't have fallen down, and make you save me again," you say, trying to get as much heat from Liam as possible.
"So that's how it happened. Rhonda, it's alright. I'm happy that you were trying to get over your fear. I know it was already so brave of you to come over here to the lake with me, and the truth is, saving your life is the only time I was lucky enough to have my lips against yours..." he stops as soon as he says it, realizing he said what he was thinking.
You try to look up at him without letting go of him, "What?"
"Let's get you to the car," he says, picking you up. You agree, planning to ask him about what he said a few seconds ago once things calm down.
As he's carrying you away, you see a bouquet of roses and a box on the ground.
"Wait. Liam, what are those?"
Liam realizes you were talking about the items he dropped as he ran to save you from the lake.
"Oh!" he says, walking over to them.
He crouches down, "Pick them up, please?"
You do as asked and he stands up, walking over to the car, putting you into the passenger seat and getting into the driver's seat.
He turns on the car, letting the heat flow, before actually starting the car.
"So about what you said earlier..." you began, as the warmth started setting in.
"Oh..." Liam said, rubbing the back of his neck.
You don't take your eyes off him, waiting for him to continue.
"Well...I...uh..." he says, trying the right way to say this.
He takes in a big breath and looks at you, grabbing the roses and box which you had set down, and gently placed them back into your hands.
"Rhonda, I love you. I mean, ever since that day I first met you, well saved you, I thought you were the most beautiful girl ever, and once we started to hang out and stuff, I started to fall truly, madly, crazy deeply, in love with you."
You look into his eyes, wanting to reassure yourself that this was actually happening and he was actually saying what you just heard.
"Are you serious?" you ask him.
"I knew it. You don't feel the same," he says, his voice sounding like his heart just shattered into a million of pieces.
"Liam, that's not it! It's just, I feel the same way," you say, trying not to blush.
He looks at you, "Really?"
You smile and nod and the biggest smile you have ever seen forms on Liam's face.
You smile to yourself and look down in embarrassment.
You feel Liam grab your chin and before you know it, his lips are on yours. You kiss him back, and you two pull away, each other's foreheads pressed against each other.
"Open the box," Liam whispers.
You put the roses to the side as you get the box and open it.
All you could see was it was full of rose petals, causing you to look up at him.
"There's something inside," he says with a smile.
You put your hand inside and pull out a piece of paper.
On it, were some words. You read the title: 'Truly, Madly, Deeply'.
"This looks like lyrics," you say, as you look up.
He chuckles and reaches into the back seat, pulling out his guitar, "That's because they ARE lyrics."
He then proceeds to play and sings the words on the paper, while looking directly into your eyes.
Once he finishes, your left with your eyes a bit watery.
"I wrote this song to express my feelings for you, but it barely says half of what I feel," he says with a smile.
"Rhonda, will you be my girlfriend?" he asks.
You smile wide and nod as he brings you in for another kiss.

"Uh oh, am I going to have to take care of a sick patient tomorrow?" Liam says with a chuckle.
You two spend the next day in bed, with him playing the song he wrote especially for you.
