tutorial 01. super cute + easy marble nails!
Hey everyone! The marble swirl gives your nails a pretty look with multiple colors at once. You can get your nails marble-swirled in salons, but doing it yourself saves a lot of money. Even though the technique looks complicated, it's really easy and can be done by anybody.
{ YOU NEED }
- at least 3 different colors of nail polish
- clear (top coat) polish
- scotch tape
- water
- toothpick
- stain proof clear bowl
- nail polish remover with cotton and q-tips
- napkin
{ STEP ONE }
Cover your work area with newspapers or napkins to avoid staining furniture with nail polish.
{ STEP TWO }
Cover the skin surrounding the first nail with scotch tape.
{ STEP THREE }
Fill the bowl about 80% full with room temperature water.
{ STEP FOUR }
Begin your marble design!
Work quickly, or the nail polish will dry.
& remember, your color #1 is your base color for the marble effect, meaning it will show the most.
Color #1:
Add 2 drops of nail polish into the bowl of water.
The polish should gather on the surface of the water.
If it drops into the bottom without creating a circle on the surface, try again.
Color #2:
Add 1 drop of polish on top of color #1.
It should naturally create a smaller circle on top of color #1.
Continue with each color that you would like to add to the effect.
{ STEP FIVE }
Now use a toothpick to swirl the colors together and create a slick of polish floating on the water that's big enough to cover your nail.
{ STEP SIX}
Dip your nail face down in the water, so the polish covers the tip of your finger.
{ STEP SEVEN }
Wait for the polish to dry completely, then peel away the scotch tape carefully from the skin.
{ STEP EIGHT }
Remove excess nail polish on your finger with a q-tip or a cotton ball dipped in nail polish remover.
{ STEP NINE }
Repeat on all other nails.
{ STEP TEN }
Apply a clear top coat to protect the marble finish.
Voila, you're done!
