VALENTINO Coat

Navy coat in virgin wool. Small shirt collar, long sleeves. Front flap with 3 pyramidal buttons in golden metal. Fitted waistline and flared on hips. Two side pockets. Stretch polyester lining. Made in Italy. Pier Paolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri remember the eighties as a time of innocent glamour. For pre-fall, they set out to re-create that spirit, offering a collection both inspired by the Roman palazzos, and a hedonistic nightlife. The result is a mix of skirt-suits, jumpsuits, carrot pants, rich fleece, retro jackets and elegant mini dresses with a cinched waist. The fabrics are sensual with velvet, double wool, technical satin, lace as well or chiffon, when the color palette combines hypnotic black, geranium red, chalk, as well as deep green. From the delicate and design-focused pieces, we see a clear tribute to couture with details such as bows, ruffles, draping and lace. Once again, the creative duo manages to combine the roots of the house with a contemporary spirit. Collection Pre-Fall 2012.
