‘Buzz’ went my mobile on the side of the bed, I grabbed it and opened my new message. It was from Cat, ‘get up, were going shopping, Main gate 30mins’.
‘Hey sleepy head’ she said as I arrived at the gates
‘It’s only half 7, I usually sleep till 10 at weekends you know that’
‘yeah but all the good stuff will be gone from the market if we left it too late, come on gates open at 8 and it’s a bit of a walk’
‘This better be worth it’ I moaned as we set off.
The market was in a big flea market down the road, once a month it specialised in vintage stuff and cat had promised to take me weeks ago. When we arrived it was starting to fill up.
‘Lets head to the back first’ cat said ‘then we don’t have to fight the crowds’
We fought our way to the back where there was a café and some food stalls; I grabbed a coffee and doughnut to keep me going. We browsed through the stalls having a great time, Cat bought some shoes that she liked and I picked up a cute pair of glasses on the same stall.
The morning was fun; we found a clothes stall with some changing rooms and pranced about trying stuff on like in a movie, I was exhausted at 1pm when we finally emerged back into the entrance of the market. We both had massive bags of shopping, mine contained some stuff for my room which I’d decided to make a bit more personal since I’d got to enjoy school at bit more, as well as some gloves, a fan, a romper suit, a ring, a cupcake mug and some cute earrings. Cat’s bag was just as full with shoes, a very cute denim jacket, some necklaces and a little toy dog for her little sister.
‘There’s a nice Chinese just down the street where I usually go’ Cat had said as she was swapping into a new pair of shoes.
‘I love Chinese’ I smiled ‘Let’s go’
As we sat talking over some noodles, I thought how lucky I was to have her as a best friend and girlfriend and wondered how did others girls survive with sweaty boys.
