  • Bensen Edward Sofa - Edw245
    SOLD OUT: More info
Design Niels Bendtsen. Molded foam, steel, webbing, down, Italian upholstery. Made in British Columbia by Bensen. The Edward sofa is an update of the BENSEN Ed sofa and utilizes a number of new production techniques for improved comfort and a more refined profile. The name Edward is a reference to American mid century designer Edward Wormley whose designs have remained highly influential in the design community. Edward combines the use of several down-filled back cushions with a single seat cushion to give it an informal and relaxed appearance. The buttoned seat cushion alludes to the Edward's mid century roots, yet its proportions and comfort are decidedly contemporary. The backrest and arms are appropriately scaled to give excellent back support without appearing oversized and heavy, while the down-filled back cushions conform to give superb comfort. The sofa's frame is constructed with a durable steel frame featuring an elastic webbing suspension system adapted from the automotive industry with CNC precision cut foam used for the arms and back to give superior comfort and a tailored appearance. The imported European seat and down back cushions have been carefully selected for durability, firmness and comfort. Seat cushions are made of CFC-free polyurethane, softened by a continuous soft fiber wrap. Back cushions are baffled for even distribution of feathers and batting and to prevent shifting, thereby providing better lumbar support. Edward is available in three sizes, and can be specified in either fabric or leather, or in fabric with a leather seat (please call for details). Legs are finished with a dark Bronzatto finish, and are removable. All covers are slip-covered. Cushions are included as indicated in the line drawing. Additional cushions can be ordered separately. • Bensen Morgan Sofa - 210
    SOLD OUT: More info
Design Niels Bendtsen, 2012. Molded foam, steel, webbing, down, Italian upholstery. Made in British Columbia by Bensen. The Morgan sofa was designed with a single purpose in mind: uncompromised comfort. The design subtly combines elements of formal high back sofas with a casual modern attitude to create a sofa that is superbly comfortable and suitable for a broad range of interiors. Morgan is characterized by its distinct high back, cut-away arm profile, and sumptuous down cushions. The high back profile provides full head and shoulder support, and extends part way around the sides to form comfortable corner nooks. Chunky wood legs raise the sofa to a more comfortable seat height and balance the proportions. Morgan is built on a durable steel under-frame with bi-directional elastic webbing suspension for superior strength and lightness. To this, a precision made wood top-frame and CNC precision cutfoam is used for the arms and back to give superior comfort and a tailored appearance. The luxurious seat cushions are cleverly engineered with a memory-foam core and wrapped in a generous amount of feather and down to provide the perfect amount of support, allowing the sitter to "sink" into its softness. The cushion covers are precisely sized to give a soft casual appearance without looking sloppy or loose. Down back cushions complement the softness and appearance of the seat, while the frame retains a crisp tailored form. Morgan is available in three sizes in a variety of fabrics and leathers. All fabric covers are attached by Velcro and removable for easy cleaning or replacement. MOR150: 60" L | 39.5" d | 32.75" h | includes 2 back cushions. SOLD OUT: More info
Design Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, 2008. Chromed steel, metal, polyurethane foam, polyester, wool and upholstery. Made in Germany by Vitra. A sofa can go beyond being merely a piece of furniture and become a room of its own within a room - this was the idea that prompted Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec to design the Alcove Sofa. With its soft seat and backrest upholstery, as well as the high, flexible side and back panels, Alcove Sofa creates the frame for a comfy, safe and secure world, a place for relaxed withdrawal from the hustle and bustle of life. Yet, Alcove Sofa is also a meeting place and point of communication: In the larger version two people can sit opposite each other, relaxing back against the side walls. As two- or three-seaters, the Alcove Sofa fits interiors of different sizes. Moreover, the Alcove Love Seat offers the advantages of the Alcove Sofa but for a smaller footprint. The Alcove Ottoman is a comfortable complement. The two brothers, Ronan and Erwan, have been working together since 1999. Their collaboration is a constant dialogue, nourished by their single identities and strived towards a common goal. Today, the Bouroullec brothers work with numerous manufacturers such as Vitra, Cappellini, Issey Miyake, Magis, Ligne Roset, Habitat and the Kréo Gallery. They were named "Creator of the Year" in 2002, elected "designer of the year" in 2003 and have won multiple other awards. Their creations have been exhibited in many collective or solo exhibitions and are part of some permanent museum collections around the world. Design Verner Panton, 1959. Laminated body, foam, upholstery, stainless steel. Made in Germany by Vitra. "Most people spend their lives living in dreary, beige conformity, mortally afraid of using color. The main purpose of my work is to provoke people into using their imagination and make their surroundings more exciting." -Verner Panton. Verner Panton's career as a designer first peaked at the end of the 1950's. With a series of furniture featuring basic geometrical shapes he pre-empted Pop Art ideas and yet with the base frames clearly adopted the elegance of Scandinavian Modernism. With the C1 armchair created around the same time, Verner Panton for the first time chose a section of a sphere. On swivel bearings and slightly tilted, the upholstered seat shell is astonishingly comfortable-both for relaxed sitting, leaning back and for upright sitting. The C1 can be integrated into private apartments, hotels or reception areas, cuts a fine figure in larger groups, and can be complimented by the matching stool. As one of the most influential and remarkable designers of the era, Verner Panton has created objects, spaces and art. His original, space age designs have won numerous awards and been exhibited in museums and private collections around the world. His ideaologies and design concepts are apparent and have had great influence on 21st century design. Chair: 29" h | 26" w | 22.75" d.

Design Eero Saarinen, 1956. Aluminum base, fiberglass, upholstery. Made in USA by Knoll. In his purist approach to design, Finnish-born Eero Saarinen sought out the essential idea and reduced it to the most effective structural solution. "If the problem is a chair, then its solution must be found in the way it relates to the room..." In the Tulip, Saarinen realized his ideal of formal unity: "Every significant piece of furniture has a holistic structure." Kast is a storage unit that is modular in structure. Supplemented by two simple wooden crates and a further basic module, a shelf/wall cupboard combination arises. • Knoll Saarinen White Tulip Arm Chair
    SOLD OUT: More info
Design Eero Saarinen, 1956. Aluminum base, fiberglass, upholstery. Made in USA by Knoll. In his purist approach to design, Finnish-born Eero Saarinen sought out the essential idea and reduced it to the most effective structural solution. He designed the 1956 Tulip chair in terms of its setting, rather than a particular shape. "In any design problem, one should seek the solution in terms of the next largest thing." he said. "If the problem is a chair, then its solution must be found in the way it relates to the room..." In Tulip Saarinen realized his ideal of formal unity: "Every significant piece of furniture has a holistic structure." Winner of the 1969 Museum of Modern Art Award, the Tulip is Saarinen's genius solution to clearing up the "slum of legs" that populates the under-carriage of most dining sets. The Saarinen tulip armchair features a cast aluminum base with a rilsan coated finish. Shell is molded fiberglass with a reinforced plastic bonded finish. • Vitra Tip Ton Chair
    SOLD OUT: More info
Design Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby, 2011. Polypropylene. Made in Germany by Vitra. Tip Ton defines a whole new chair typology: the solid plastic chair with forward-tilt action. Its name refers to the two types of sitting experiences that characterize the chair - from a normal position, Tip Ton can be tilted a few degrees forward where it then stays in place. The innovation behind this seemingly simple feature lies in the skids, which rise at a nine-degree angle. The forward-tilt sitting position straightens the pelvis and spine and thus improves circulation to the abdominal and back muscles. Thanks to its striking appearance, Tip Ton is an outstanding dining table or home-office solution; it is also ideal for use in restaurants, conference and meeting spaces and educational institutions. Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby studied architecture together at the Royal College of Art in London. Since that time they have worked on projects where industrial design, furniture design and architecture intersect. Tip Ton is their first design in collaboration with Vitra. Tip Ton is available in eight colors and stacks four high. It is extremely durable and up to 100% recyclable. 31" h | 20" w | 21.75" d | seat: 18.5" h.

  • Herman Miller® Aluminum Group Side Chair Outdoor
    SOLD OUT: More info
Design Charles & Ray Eames®, 1958. Aluminum, upholstery. Made by Herman Miller® "To whom does design address itself: to the greatest number, to the specialist of an enlightened matter, to a privileged social class? Design addresses itself to the need." -Charles Eames. Aluminum Group chairs were originally developed in 1958 as a special project by Ray Eames for a private residence being designed by Eero Saarinen and Alexander Girard. At the time, the furniture was called the "leisure group," or "indoor-outdoor group" since it was meant to address the lack of quality outdoor furniture on the market. To ready the chairs and ottoman for outdoor use, Herman Miller developed a new fabric that would be durable enough to weather the elements and still feel good against the skin when you're wearing a bathing suit. Designed by materials consultant Susan Lyons, Outdoor Weave retains the spirit of the original 1958 polyester saran and builds off the technical capabilities of the Aeron chair's Pellicle suspension fabric. Outdoor Weave combines a sturdy monofilament polypropylene for strength and elasticity, with four multifilament polypropylene yarns to give it a great look and feel. It's also recyclable and contains no harmful PVC. It is available in five tones selected to complement the white and graphite satin powder-coated frames. With the newly updated versions of the lounge chair, side chair, and ottoman with a range of highly durable finish options including Outdoor Weave fabric, the Aluminum Group Lounge Chair, Side Chair, and Ottoman are once again ready to go back to their roots-outdoors.
