The iconic three shade system of the PH series of lighting fixtures was created in 1925/1926 by Poul Henningsen for an exhibition in Paris. The designer was determined to produce glare free lighting that was directed where it was needed most while creating soft shadows. The three shade system creates an even distribution of light as each shade reduces the light equally due to their distance from the light source. This is the first lamp to have been created using the scientific model of the logarithmic spiral as a basis for light distribution. There have been approximately one thousand variations of the original lamp with several floor, table, wall, and pendant versions currently available. The PH 3/2 Pendant has a glass shade and is available in chrome or black chrome plated aluminum. It is shipped with a white ceiling canopy, 12 feet of installation cable and accepts a 75W max A19 base bulb (not included).

While Wästberg is a forward-thinking manufacturer of high-tech lighting, a pendant lamp is a very old concept. Therefore, designing a new pendant lamp for Wästberg means bridging the past with the present. Firstly, the w131 is a surprisingly small lamp. However, it still lights up well and is extremely versatile when it comes to usage. Secondly, the lamp gives a soft and friendly impression, the textile cord further adding softness. Sand-cast recycled aluminium is both beautiful and environmentally sound. Any imperfections of the metal are meant to be there. We will use this lamp both at home and by contract. --Claesson Koivisto Rune. Wästberg’s lamps create intimate spheres and simply make people feel somewhat safer. Regardless of whether the lamps are in offices, hotel rooms or homes. The Wästberg Philosophy may be summarised as follows: I. Decrease general lighting and use direct lighting. II. Direct lighting should have all the basic properties of task lighting, but a wider area of use. III. Direct lighting should include energy efficient light sources, minimal glare, flicker free light, plenty of light evenly distributed over a large surface, and the ability to adjust light intensity. People will continue to work themselves to death. People will continue to work themselves to death, even in the light of Wästberg’s lamps. But they will feel better while doing it. Lamp fixtures have historically been shaped to encase different light sources such as the light bulb. Because of the physical shape and size of the light source the light fixture itself became of significant size. Today, thanks to LED, the almost zero-sized light source does no longer limit the size and shape of the light fixture. Consequently, minimizing has become the design rule. However, with pendants in particular, the light fixture has always had an additional role apart from providing light – it shapes the room. The lamp that hangs from the ceiling, often above a table, creates a room within the room. In w151 Extra Large Pendant we’re bringing back the room-shaping quality - not with one lamp, but three. Based on the most basic of geometrical shapes – the cone – the lamp comes in three variations: the tall and narrow, the archetypical and the low and wide. All three are super-sized, pushing the limits of manufactured, spun aluminum, yet fitting through a normal door frame. The feature of this lamp is its size. Paired with careful control of the fine details and the paper-like matt finishes, the lamp is almost illusory; dream- like – when experienced in reality. • Verpan - Spiral SP01 Pendant Lamp
    connox.com
The Spiral lamps series has been designed by Verner Panton and it is produced by the Danish company Verpan today. The Spiral lamps are considered to be further developments of the Fun lamp series, which has already been presented by Panton five years earlier (1964). Panton used metal hoops for the Spiral lamp, as well as he did for the Fun lamp, fixing dynamic elements at them using smaller metal hoops. Contrasting the Fun lamp, there are no nacre or aluminium sheets used at the Spiral lamp, but spiral-like elements out of plastic. These name-giving spirals offer a spherical appearance to the lamp, since they are suspended on different levels. The Spiral lamp is available as single lamp with a metal frame or in cluster formations with one to three “lamp bundles” one under another, as well as the Fun lamp. The sculptural lamp is available with differently coloured plastic spirals that offer a different character to the lamp each one of them – from luxurious (gold) over elegant (silicone) up to Pop-Art-Design (multicolour), the Spiral Lamp can therefore be integrated in different furnishing styles that way. The Spiral lamp plays with all our senses as a masterpiece of Panton. The spirals get to move by a slight air beam and the lamp seams to become alive consequently. The light (illuminant E27 max. 75 W) meets the spirals from the inside of the illuminant, and the spirals spread the light in the room in soft rotating movements like wonderful reflections. “Light and colour are tightly connected. (Light-)colours can encourage deciding differences, for example if changing from daylight into artificial light or from powerful into soft illumination. Moreover the colour consciousness of the material’s structure is influenced. Also if a piece of textile has the same colour as a glossy enamel-sheet, both of them act completely different.”, says Verner Panton about the interplay of light, colour and material in design. The Spiral lamps by Verpan are delivered including a chromed baldachin and a black textile cable (400 cm). The spiral elements consist of silver or gold or multicolour cellidor plastics (out of cellulose). The suspension hardware is delivered out of metal. Besides the SP01, the Spiral lamp is also available in the bigger cluster formations SP1, SP2 and SP3 as well as in a smapper edition as Spiral Mini. Each Verpan product is delivered with an authenticity certificate. This one grants the originality of the product, which is still manufactured according to the strict quality demands of Verner Panton at Verpan. • Verpan - VP Globe Pendant Light
    connox.com
Verner Panton ’s VP Globe spreads futurism as no other lamp does. Designed in 1969, the year of the fisrt landing on the moon, the design of the lamp displays the worldwide believe in technology and future. In the middle of this spirit of optimism and inspired by the thoughts of a new era, Verner Panton designed the VP Globe. Controllability, transparency and colour were the main characteristics of the VP Globe. The sphere out of acrylic acts like an air bubble where light comes out of, which optimally adapts to working and room demands. This adaptation is possible by a total of five aluminium reflectors, with a colourful surface (white, blue and red orange) and suspended at three steel chains in order to emphasize the central illuminant (E14 max. 60W). The VP Globe however, doesn’t only spread soft, pleasant and balanced room light, but it also presents the unique love of Verner Panton for technical aspects, material and the interplay of possibilities. “The colour planning is deciding when it comes to design surroundings. It is not enough to say that red is read and blue just blue. I generally work parallel with colours of the whole spectrum and I keep in mind how they follow each other inside of the spectrum. This is how I am able to control the warm or cold character of a room and create the mood I want”, explained Verner Panton about the interplay of colours in design. The interplay with the colour temperatures and light colours isn’t rare any more today, but VP Globe still displays the mechanic and visual connections of light, colour and mood on a melancholic way. Moreover the lamps classic enriches every surrounding catching all eyes with its clear acrylic glass shade and the technical and cool acting aluminium reflectors. The VP Globe was initially designed for the Louis Poulsen company. Verpan manufactures the exceptional lamp today, which is delivered including a black textile cable and a ceiling baldachin. It is available in two different sizes (Ø 40cm und Ø 50 cm). Moreover a different VP Globe variant is available, that one is equipped with semi-transparent opal glass diffusors instead of the aluminium reflectors. Each Verpan product is delivered with an authenticity certificate. This one grants the originality of the product, which is still manufactured according to the strict quality demands of Verner Panton at Verpan.

The New Wave by Verner Panton already emerged in 1970 in cooperation with the traditional Danish glass manufacturer Holmegaard. The characteristic table lamp produced by Verpan today, bribes by its horizontal lines and a clear silhouette, which still acts modern. Verner Panton always enjoyed to experiment with material’s limits: The production out of opal glass, without breaking the design, was only reachable with huge effort in the 70s. This is how the glass makes up the harmonic form of the Verpan New Wave, which is organic and still clear – typical for Panton products. The organic table lamp grows like a mushroom, foot and shade melt to one piece. The 1972 designed Wire table lamp by Verner Panton is part of an initially very large series of table and floor lamps. Verpan produces the table lamp according to the designs by Panton out of chrome plated steel wire and a half-spherical lampshade out of plastic. The illuminant (E14 for Ø 30 cm or E27 for Ø 40 cm) inside of the construction is surrounded by a metal reflector, which leads the light to the inside of the shade creating diffuse light with it. The colours of the Wire lamps caused furores when they speared, since Panton’s designs were considered provocative colour explosions. That was how Panton for example made expositions where all the products as well as the surrounding were orange. That didn’t only name the exposition “orangerie” but also Verner Panton himself was called crazy in the Danish press. Verpan doesn’t offer such a wide colour range for the lamps today, but Wire didn’t lose any of its charm however. The cylindrical wire frame of the base becomes an open half-sphere at the top where the half-spherical plastic shade fulfils the appearance of a sphere. The table lamp, imitating the iconic shape of a bulb, is available in two sizes. Verpan offers the Wire table lamp with a transparent cable (L220 cm) with an On/Off switch. Mother of Pearl Pendant Lamp Also the history of the Danish company Verpan started with the Panton lamp FUN M.O.P. It was the first product of the then young company. The co-name Mother or Pearl (N.O.P.) was given to the Fun lamp especially because of the Panton used material nacre (mother-of-pearl). But the Fun could also be called “Mother of all pearls” because of its graceful and fragile appeal. Verner Panton saw the world surrounding him as inspiration source of all his designs. The 1964 created Fun lamp (M.O.P.) is thereby the best example for his excellent love-for-details. Naturalness combined with the creativity of design and the demands of functionality make up a lamp, which touches the different senses. The lamp doesn’t only bribe by a rich light interplay. Its versatile nacre elements moreover create a sensual quietness. The Fun 1DM is made of semi-transparent, round mother-of-pearl sheets, connected dynamically be small metal rings: Resulting in chains of different lengths (max. H 60 cm), the sheets hang at three metal hoops (Ø 45 cm). The real light source of the Verpan lamp is thereby hidden behind the sheets – as well as the pearl in the shell. The centric illuminant (E27 max. 75 W) spreads the light against the mother-of-pearl sheets, reflecting the material’s typical gloss. The sheets get to move slightly by e.g. Soft air drafts, so that vivid and versatile light and sound effects emerge. The cable with black fabric coatings acts decent and remains in the background, in order to leave the masterly composed light show of the Verner Panton design. Each Verpan product is delivered with an authenticity certificate. This one grants that the product is original, still being produced according to the strict quality guidelines of Verner Panton at Verpan. There are further sizes of the Fun M.O.P. Lamp available. The lamp was the first product of the young company, who produced the designs of the Danish designer Verner Panton (1926-1998). Verner Panton considered the world around him always as source of inspiration for his designs. The 1964 designed Fun lamp (M.O.P.) is the best example of the Panton's great attention to details. Beach, sun, light and sand – he used these impressions in his Fun lamp collection. Naturalness combined with the creativity of design and the demands on functionality result in a light which has not only an attractive appearance, but touches many senses: The lamp convinces with a multifaceted light game, as well as light sound from numerous nacre elements that ensure a sensual relaxation. Big lamp with fine nacre tiles The Fun lamp is known as Mother of Pearl (M.O.P.) mainly due to the material used by Panton: Nacre (also known as mother-of-pearl). Due to the fragile and graceful appearance, you could call the Fun lamp but as a "Mother of all Pearls". The fun 11DM consists of semitranspart, round nacre discs which are flexibly connected by small metal rings. They are attached to five large metal rings. This is how Fun 11DM is one of the biggest one of the collection with the 70 cm of diameter. The actual light source of the Verpan lamp is however, hidden behind the plate - like the Pearl of a shell. The light is thrown against the nacre tiles that reflect the typical gloss of them. The cable with black cloth acts discreetly and stays in the background, so that the masterfully composed light interplay by Verner Panton always remains in the foreground. Each Verpan product comes with a certificate of authenticity. This certificate guarantees that it is an original product which is manufactured according to the strict quality requirements of Verner Panton from Verpan. Other sizes are of the Fun M.O.P.
