January 23rd: It's the first snowfall of the year. To take advantage of it, go outside today. Bundle up, because it's getting closer and closer to negative degrees as the year goes on. Bring your children and pets outside and play around in the snow. If you're not an outdoors person, stay in and snuggle up and watch a movie.
Holden's arm had not been as bad as doctor's feared and they were sending him back today. I had hardly left the house all week. I knew this was special, rare. And over with soon.
He'd left that morning, early, to a teary goodbye. I couldn't do anything but cry myself to sleep afterwards.
When I woke, I had a pounding headache and everything in the house was freezing. I sat up, pulling on a sweater, some of his boxers, socks. I wasn't warm though. I got up to look out the window. Freezing. I walked downstairs, lighting my fireplace, grabbing a blanket and cuddling up on my laptop. I stayed that way for hours, past the fire dying. But he didn't get on. He wasn't there yet. What was becoming of me with this army wife thing?
