  • Vintage Royal Blue Usa Vase
    chairish.com
    Vintage Royal Blue Usa Vase
The simple design with clean lines draw you towards this beautiful small vase. The rich royal blue color and glossy glaze make this vase a standout. Made by an American company, probably Shawnee. There is a small color variation in the glaze so please look at the pictures closely. This item is pre-owned please look at all pictures and email me with any questions. (width dimension includes handles) Pottery marked with USA: Around the time of WW I, many businesses felt a patriotic need to include USA on their goods. This may have been also due to their exporting items overseas. Later on the US government passed a law that all imported goods had to be marked with the country of origin. Some American companies then decided that they no longer needed to include USA mark, because the imports would be stamped "Japan", "China", or whatever while other companies continued to use the USA mark. The two most common companies though to use the USA mark continuously were Shawnee & McCoy. But since many stickers that were placed on the pottery with the company name have since been lost most of the time their is no absolute proof of an unmarked piece's provenance.

Attributed to Native American Navajo Chris Blackhorse. The pottery is signed "Blackhorse, Navajo", and is titled "The Weaver". The front of the pottery is also signed "Dine which translates to Navajo, the date, 2003, and the artist which is Blackhorse. The vase has a rounded rim; below the rim is a circular design of triangles and sawtooth motifs. The bottom circular pattern is stepped triangles. The main body of the vase depicts a Navajo woman weaving a rug or blanket on a loom, while sitting under a tree. The other side of the vase has large branches on which finished weavings are displayed. The main background is mountains set against a starlit night; the entire vase is done in black and white and is glazed and etched, which is a specialty of Blackhorse - fine two-tone etchings. His full name is Chris Blackhorse. Etching is where the artist etches through one layer of paint to reveal the next layer without going through it. Chris Blackhorse has made lamps, jewelry boxes, pottery bells, and vases. Chris has also made pottery in black and white two-tone etchings on red clay; he has also made four two-toned etchings. Chris normally works his feather and signature trademark into the design panels. He was born for the Hashk'aahazoi or "Yucca First Strung Out On a Line" or Bitter Water clan.

Signed Large Vintage Nemadji Pottery Vase
This vase is one of the larger Nemadji Pottery Art pieces I have seen. The colors are beautiful. Swirling green, oranges, and brown. A statement piece indeed in mint condition. So happy I was able to find my very special collection and share with you. From the Midwest, I probably collected many more pieces of art than I needed especially from the desert states. Gift-worthy and a real beauty! Almost 6 1/2 inches tall!

  • Vintage Sunset Mountain Pottery Vase

    Vintage Sunset Mountain Pottery Vase
Offered here is a beautiful vintage Sunset Mountain Pottery Vase circa 1950. Collectors will understand its rarity but for those of you non collectors here is a little history. Although sold at Sunset Mountain overlooking Asheville, North Carolina and called Sunset Mountain Pottery, these great pieces were actually made in Steeds, N.C. by J.B. Cole’s Pottery from 1926-1956. That means it was made in the Seagrove area of North Carolina which is 200 miles east of Asheville. The Seagrove area has long been known for its pottery. In some cases called the pottery capital of the world. This large double handled vase has a beautiful and unusual drip glaze of white over forest green. I would guess it to be a 1950’s piece because of its style and glaze. It is in great vintage condition – several very small nicks to glaze on rim – look much worse in photos. Don’t hesitate to buy. Large vintage Sunset Mountain Pottery vase in forest green with white drip glaze. In great vintage condition. Diameter: 6.25 inches Weight: 9 pounds 8 ounces

    Vintage Handmade Floral Pottery Vase
Warm, sun-soaked hues of magenta and emerald give this banded, rustic vase an early California vibe we love! A note from the seller: When I saw this piece at an Indian reserve I just had to have it... the vase wasn't for sale but I talked my way into buying it. I just loved that it was from the 60's with it's rustic yet still bright and beautiful colors. This vintage boho chic pottery vase would adorn any type of space. I grow more and more attached to it everyday...
