@kateolive I lived in a small town without any real dept stores except J C Penny. But the top drugstore carried the Chanel items, etc. The lady in charge of the area known as the beauty counter was a real beauty and we all became regular customers of hers. It was she who introduced me to my 1st bottle of Chanel No.5. The husband of my daughter's friend was in the Middle East for awhile and upon return brought ladies he knew bottles of oil of many costly scents. I was given Coco, but it turned out to be too strong for my sensitive skin. I prize that bottle and now sniff it occasionally, just for the sake of it's wonderful scent.
I had forgotten about Muguet des Bois - one of my older sisters wore it. The other one wore Evening In Paris.
I am enjoying our little exchanges very much!

@parmelia I never could wear Chanel No. 5, but Coco is one of my very favorites.; it's such a treat to put it on. Emeraude was one of the 5 or 6 Coty scents our local drugstore carried. That reminds me, Muguet des Bois was another. Not only did I wear it, I used it to scent the water I washed my delicates in!

@kateolive Ah, the only scent I was allowed in high school was scented soap or Friendship Garden by Shulton. It was when I had my 1st job that I began using adult scents - Chanel No.5 (still my most favorite) and Prince Matchelli's lovely scents (first gifted me by my sister in law) Interesting that I have never even smelled Emeraude! I still remember how my mother smelled like gardenias!

@parmelia I began using 4711 in high school. That and Emeraude were my first ventures into scent. What a wonderful friend to send you such gifts I haven't seen or used 4711 in a long time. I might buy a bottle for old times sake. There's always online.
