The inspiration for this product was found in nature and turned into an abstract form through design. Daisy is an attempt in re-birth of handcrafts and an awakening of interest in modern, hand-made products. It is not a coincidence that this piece was designed for Rukotvorine (Manulution's parent company), which in Bosnia symbolizes the tradition of woodcarving and local heirloom furniture. A beautiful, flower shaped table top features hand-carved edges and hand-carved flowers. The Daisy Coffee Table is made in sustainably harvested wood and finished using eco-friendly Danish oil. This table is a part of the Daisy Collection, which also includes: Daisy Chair , Daisy Dining Table and Daisy Side Table. Manulution buys walnut and cherry logs from private orchards throughout Bosnia. These are trunks of old trees, which are cut when their productive life of fruit bearing is over and need to be replaced by new ones. They are bought directly from villagers, often in very small quantities, whenever it is offered. Other hardwoods (i.e. maple, oak, elm, and ash) are sourced from public forestry companies, the management of which has vastly improved in recent years. The forest certification process has started and several forests are FSC certified. There is also concrete evidence that forests are exploited sustainably. A recent forestry inventory (financed and supported by the World Bank) has shown that Bosnia's forest volume has increased significantly since the last inventory was conducted in 1960s. In fact, the study indicated that Bosnia, ostensibly, has more trees per capita than any country in Europe or Central Asia.

The Sphere Table was developed in conjunction with the redesign of the North Delegates Lounge at the United Nations' headquarters in New York. As part of a large-scale programme to renovate the building's interior, the project was led by Hella Jongerius, who created special furniture pieces for the lounge. The Sphere Table is the first of these pieces to enter production at Vitra. The Sphere Table combines a solid wood table with a large dome-shaped 'bubble' made of opalescent acrylic glass. The hemispherical screen can be attached to either the left or right side of the table, making it highly adaptable to individual needs. For this reason, the Sphere Table is ideal for the home office, where the bubble creates a private and sheltered space within a room. • Petal Side Table By Manulution
    2modern.com
The Petal Lounge Table in solid wood is representative of the design direction of Rukotvorine, a Bosnian handicraft workshop for which it has been designed: transformation of tradition and craftsmanship into products of modern design through an abstract process and innovative carving techniques. The Petal Table is perfect as a coffee table, but also as a side table. The petals can rotate enabling infinite transformations of the Table's shape, with more or fewer petals. Patterns and plays of light are created. In this way, the table's construction combines a graceful appearance with a high degree of stability. Crafted in solid European wood and finished in eco-friendly Danish oil. Manulution buys walnut and cherry logs from private orchards throughout Bosnia. About the Designer Jean Prouve France (1904 - 1984) Jean Prouvé, born 1901 in Paris, was trained as a metal artisan under Emile Robert, Enghien und Szabo in Paris. In 1924 he opened his own workshop in Nancy and began to produce his first furnishings made of formed sheet steel in 1925. He was a founding member of the Union des Artistes Modernes (UAM) in 1930. In the following year he established his own manufacturing firm, Les Ateliers Jean Prouvé. During the 1930s, the company produced numerous furniture designs, as well as some of the first prefabricated architectural elements, including components for the Maison du Peuple in Clichy (in collaboration with the architects Beaudoin and Lods), whose steel-and-glass structure attracted a great deal of attention. Due to the scarcity of steel during the Second World War, Prouvé constructed wood furniture and developed simple houses made out of prefabricated parts. Active in the French Résistance, Prouvé was elected mayor of Nancy after the city was liberated. He designed and constructed residential buildings for the homeless. In 1947 he established the Maxéville factory, a facility of 25,000 square meters in which furnishings, prefabricated homes and schools were produced by 200 employees. In order to meet the increasing demand for furniture, this division came under the direction of Steph Simon as a separate division with exclusive marketing rights in 1949. Due to disagreements with the majority shareholders, Jean Prouvé left the company in 1953. He designed and built his own residence in 1954. After working as head of the construction office of the Compagnie Industrielle de Matériel de Transport (CIMT) in Paris between 1957-68, Prouvé ran his own architectural consulting firm in Paris from 1968-84. He taught as professor at the Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers (CNAM) from 1957-70. As chairman of the jury for the Centre Pompidou architectural competition in 1971, he played a major role in selecting the design of Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers. Between 1980-84, Prouvé again turned his attention to the further development of his furniture designs. He died in Nancy in 1984. In many of his works, Jean Prouvé achieved the goal of uniting functional requirements, the honest use of materials and economical concerns with the complex demands of mass production. Beginning in 2002, in close collaboration with the Prouvé family, Vitra has devoted itself to the re-edition of numerous designs by this great constructeur. In the early 1940s, Jean Prouvé began to work more extensively with wood. The Guerdon Bas table has a heavy top in oak veneer that rests on 3 solid oak legs. These elements are joined together by a construction made out of bent sheet metal. The Guerdon Bas is also available in dark stained oak, harking back to an original version made of tropical wood called 'Table Africaine'.Dimensions: Overall Height - Top to Bottom: 13.5 Inches. Overall Width - Side to Side: 31.5 Inches. Overall Depth - Front to Back: 31.5 Inches.

The top of the Umbra Coffee Table is constructed by joining together tiny "Penrose Prototiles" in solid walnut, named after Sir. Roger Penrose, a famous British mathematician who first investigated them in 1970s. The prototiles have remarkable geometric and visual properties. For one, they are aperiodic, meaning that a shifted copy of the original set of prototiles will never look the same. The pattern does not repeat! The designer joined the prototiles in the table top in a way to create an abstract tree shade. The Umbra table is made of small pieces of walnut wood, left over in furniture production. A walnut tree needs 80 to 100 years to grow. It is beautiful in it's natural state, and every little part is valuable. What will otherwise be a waste in production process is used to make this table. Umbra Coffee Table was awarded the Interior Innovation Award in 2012. Manulution buys walnut and cherry logs from private orchards throughout Bosnia. • Chris Hardy Helix Side Table
    dwr.com
Atlanta-based industrial designer Chris Hardy, who made his design debut at Salone del Mobile in 2011, created the sculptural Helix Coffee Table (2012) for DWR. He gave it an odd number of legs and positioned the brass castings to radiate out from the center, resulting in a distinctive asymmetrical form that looks different from every angle. -For Helix, I was inspired by the challenge of personalization in the modern world, and the increasing desire that we have to own objects that match our own styles and philosophies – in the way that art does,” explains Hardy. Made by hand, the cast brass base has a natural finish that’s soft and not highly polished; minor pitting and irregularities in the brass are typical of the casting process and are not defects. Thick and durable, the annealed glass tabletop is slowly cooled in a kiln to relieve internal stresses after it’s formed. Leveling glides adjust for uneven floors. Simple assembly required; no tools necessary. Base made in India; tabletop made in U.S.A.

Alexander Girard designed the Hexagonal Table, which is presented as re-edition by Vitra. The six-sides table from 1967 is as current as ever today. The most exceptional material used is a hexagonal table top out of polished aluminium. Alexander Girard, famous as big designer of fabrics, colours, patterns and textures, equipped it with a tree-dimensional triangle pattern, which is able to mirror the incoming light as geometric pattern on the walls. This specialty and the playful effect counteract the cool materiality of this piece, whose remarkably sprayed four-leg frame is also made of aluminium die casting. These qualities make the Vitra Hexagonal Table a special highlight in rooms, since curious glimpses are assured as well as when it was presented in the 1960s.
