  • Normann Copenhagen Ding Table
    shophorne.com
Inspired by ancient three-dimensional wooden brain teaser puzzles, the German designers Ding3000 have created a simple coffee table that is assembled without the help of screws and tools. The table consists quite simply of three legs made from oak. When put together they constitute a sculptural knot that works as the base for an exclusive glass table top. When Ding3000 purchased the puzzles they immediately began to experiment and play with the shape and the puzzle's basic principle: three pieces of wood join together and lock themselves in a seemingly inseparable knot. During the process, it dawned on them that the form would make a perfect base for a table top. The legs are rounded off with chamfered edges, making the table stand sturdily on the floor and the round sheet of glass sit solidly on the base. The three legs seem to pierce through each other in an impossible way, and our intention is to draw attention to this almost magical detail. That is also why we have chosen a transparent top, so the table's key focus point is the joining of the legs. The Ding table is available with either a clear or smoked glass table top, and with a choice of three different types of legs, there is ample opportunity to find exactly the style that suits your furnishings and taste. For example, you can combine a clear glass table top with legs in natural for a clean and Nordic expression, or turn up the intensity with a smoked table top in bold coral-colored or striking black legs.
  • Artek Pirkka Table
    shophorne.com
Ilimari Tapiovaara was committed to designing furniture for a much broader market. His goal was to produce quality inexpensive furniture that was made from materials that were readily available in Finland. The rustic simplicity and smaller structure made the Pirkka Collection very popular for use in the smaller homes in the post war era of the 1950s. The Pirkka Collection is made of solid wood with simple, clean lines which make for stylish functionality. The wood is joined together using no screws making it remarkably lightweight. The rustic table carries with it the aesthetic appeal of modern design even 50 years later. The table is available in a variety of lengths making it ideal for several different locations. The bench can be paired with the table or used as a stand lone piece. The wider than usual width makes it a comfortable seat. The side chair also pairs well with the table but can stand on its own and the stool completes the set and is available in 4 heights to make it even more versatile. The seats and table top are stained pine with a black stained solid birch frame.

Map by Vitra is a universal table program for all situations where flexible arrangements and optimal room usage are necessary. The design was coined by Edward Barger and Jay Osgerby. With their experience in architectural planning and the realization of training and conference rooms, the designers realized that a new table system had to be developed. The vertical table feet out of steel rod are fixed at the table top with a fan-shaped panel of die casting. This apparently simple technical solution does not only ensure the reinforcement of the tabletop, but also different feet positions. As an equally weightless and universal table program, Map is ideally adapted to training, conference and reunion rooms where it perfectly suits the architecture with its unobtrusive and factual design. As an elegant single table, Map moreover finds usage in the versatile “Home Offices” which get more and more important in our working world. Vitra offers the Map Table in different colour variants. Furthermore there are feet-room-blends, a cable belt as well as a cable-holder set available. Also in our blog: Utopia: Vitra becomes Changemarker
  • Normann Copenhagen Solid Coffee Table
    shophorne.com
Solid is a minimalist coffee table made from natural, solid materials that unite Scandinavian craftsmanship with the basic principles of Japanese architecture. The result is a timeless and sturdy coffee table with a simple design stripped of unnecessary details. The designer, Lars Beller Fjetland, has based Solid's design on a more than 1,000 year old Japanese structure called Torii. Toriis were originally the entrances to Shinto temples, which were used for worship and storage of sacred objects. The reference is evident in the choice of materials that are in tune with the original wood and stone used for the Torii gates, but with a Scandinavian twist. The Solid table consists of a base of Nordic ash and a marble table top, and is simple and intuitive to assemble without the use of screws or glue. The parts lock together under the weight of the table top, forming a sturdy coffee table with a harmonious and luxurious look. Lars Beller Fjetland says: "My basic philosophy as a designer is to design furniture that achieves a sense of both timelessness and durability. With its simple appearance, clean lines and natural materials Solid is a good example of a product that I think and hope will last for generations." It’s simple and Nordic expression makes Solid look elegant with most sofas.
