Like small, natural protrusions, the Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec designed Corniches are flexible deposit spaces. The Corniches emerged to place things spontaneously on them, out of the wish of having a place for smaller things in every instant. ”Just the same as hanging things on a stone before jumping in the water, we also need small possibilities to store things in our everyday life” , explained Ronan Bouroullec. This is the reason why the Corniches aren’t normal or still horizontal shelves, but somehow individual, independent and standing alone in their surrounding protrusions that we create by ourselves. As key-board besides house doors, as possibility to store things that we need instantly in the bathroom, to present a small collection of objects or as large wall installation: Corniches are another utility possibility for our living areas. The innovative design by the French brothers is more and more focusing on flexibility and weightlessness. The Corniches illustrate the concept of a spontaneous depositing possibility. The Corniches are made out of high quality synthetic material by Vitra and are available in different forms, sizes and colours.

The Lettro deposit by Umbra was created by Alan Wisniewski. He designed a multifunctional and noble wall-organizing deposit. The solution – suitable for both: office and home – consists of aluminium and it is equipped with three hooks, for example to keep keys. The part behind of the deposit serves to keep postcards and letters save and centrally, so as to not letting them fly around in the whole house. There also is a clamp in the front of the Lettro deposit for important notices. All in all, the organizer is a notes system, post deposit and key board in one. Mounting hardware is included in the delivery package.

  • Vitra Corniche White
    occa-home.co.uk
The Vitra Corniche shelf design arose from the need for small storage spaces to spontaneously keep items on, and this high gloss white version is available in 3 different sizes. The reason that Corniches are neither rectangular or simple horizontal surfaces has evolved in " the same way that we hang our beach towel on a rock jutting from a cliff before diving into the sea, we need small storage spaces in everyday life too" - Ronan Bouroullec. Each individual corniche is an isolated protrusion in the environment we create whether it is used as a key rack beside the front door, a spot to put the soap dispenser on in a bathroom or as a pedestal for a collection of small objects. The different sizes available can be used together to create a wonderful large installation and are a new way to use wall living spaces. Delivered in high-quality gift wrapped package. Why not mix and match with the japanses red or black versions of varying sizes for an eclectic look.
