A stunning photograph by Gray Malin capturing a beach scene in Italy. Documenting many of Italy's most famous beaches on a 2000-kilometer road trip, the artist's "La Dolce Vita" series was inspired by the glamorous Italian Riviera lifestyle that mesmerized the world during the 1950s and '60s. Focusing on the retro-vintage beach umbrellas that seem to have stood still in time, this series is meant to evoke nostalgia for the opulence of what the Italian Riviera once represented. A Dallas native, Gray Malin hunts the globe for the unusual beauty captured in his photographs. He often plays with perspective through height, helicoptering over the beaches of Brazil or Kauai and sending balloons above the mystical plains of Joshua Tree National Park. Malin first broke onto the scene in West Hollywood, California at a Sunday market where his prints caught the interest of gallery owners, interior designers, and stylish Angelenos. Malin's work has been displayed in the Dallas Museum of Art and has been published around the world in publications such as the London Observer.

    SOLD OUT: More info
This is a vibrant watercolor painting of a golden sunset reflected in the quiet waters of a lake by Cathy Hillegas. The sky and the water are bright with gold, orange, and purple. What is a class demo? This is not a print or reproduction. This is a painting that I do as a demonstration in my beginning watercolor classes. Because this image works so well with my beginners, I use it and paint it again and again. Because much of it is done on wet paper, they are all a little different but the basic image is the same. Because these are not exactly one of a kind, I am offering them here at a really good price only $10 more than the price of a print. Originals this size usually go for around $195 $300. This painting has another one on the reverse side of a pink cosmos flower (image size 10.5" x 14"). You can see the image in the third photo above. You may decide you like that one better! The image is 10.5" x 14" on Arches 300 lb. cold press acid free watercolor paper and is painted with Winsor Newton transparent watercolor paint. The paper is slightly larger (11" x 15.5").. It will be sent well protected in a clear plastic sleeve, backed by cardboard and will be shipped flat. Because there will be many of these listed eventually, I will not name them but give them each a number this is Sunset # 9. Cathy Hillegas

Kim Coulter began her formal training at the University of Texas, received her BA in Art Therapy from the College of New Jersey, and then continued her postgraduate work at the Art Institute of Southern California. Inspired by the early California Impressionists, Coulter paints "en plein aire" (in the open air). Twice a year, she packs up her paints and travels across the continent to capture the beautiful vistas. She says she paints this way because "the wind shifts, the light and shadows move, and I have to work quickly to capture the fleeting moment. I like to create a feeling of peace and reflect nature in full bloom." While Coulter enjoys working in a representational style, she has begun exploring a more contemporary direction in her most recent paintings. In her words, "Giving the impression of something familiar along with an abstract approach has proved to be an enjoyable process for me as an artist."
