court of lies.
**KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK**.
three minutes, door slams open, " What the heck? It's three AM." Phillip whispers, I badger my way through the door, dropping my bag near his shoes.
"You walked out on me today. Why'd you do that." it wasn't a question, it was a thought that demanded a response, I needed a voice of reason. I needed something to remind me that I was sane.
"Well you didn't have time to visit, Vic." He said nonchalantly as he handed me a baby carrot and plopped on his busted leather couch.
"I was going to a luncheon. I had plans. That didn't mean you had to walk out with a pissy attitude."
"It wasn't a pissy attitude, but I knew that you had things to do, and now that I feel like I have to wear a cape and a ski mask whenever I'm with you just so the world thinks I'm some rich kid doesn't really entice me."
"Who said you had to do that?" I shouted.
"REALLY?" He screamed back, "It's all over your face, bay. You're ashamed."
"No I'm not." My voice cracked.
"It's okay, it was bound to happened."
"But I love you."
"Yeah I know, but you don't love me enough to show the world, do you?"
My shoulders shrugged as my eyes filled with tears.
"See? Exactly. You love me, but you're not willing to risk your reputation. You're showing your greed."
My eyes widened, how could he say that to me? "What?"
"I love you enough to tell you point blank what you already know, Victoire. I'm your Phillip, your beloved Phillip. But I'm your beloved when there's no one else looking. Who am I to you when there's cameras flashing in your eyes?"
I stared blankly. "Shut the door on your way out." he sighed, picking up my purse and handing it to me.
At least he had enough consideration to open the door for me..
