So.. I have some sad news to share... my parrots died just an hour ago. They were so beautiful and young. They were happy and healthy too. I was just playing with them a few minutes before they died. We're not sure how they died because we never exposed them to fumes and we never fed them anything harmful. It was so sudden and it's not our fault, they might have been sick before we got them. We had only had them for about three days. They were happy birds. I guess I'm not sad, just upset. Those birds meant so much to my mother. She had wanted parrots for so long and we finally got them on Friday and now they're dead. One parrot is still alive but we gave it away to a family-friend. We've never really had pets before unless you count a fish. I've never experienced an animal/pet dying. I can only imagine how a dog or cat owner must feel when their pets die. Oh well..life goes on... this is just kind of upsetting although I'm not sad since I never got attached to the birds.

It had been two weeks since I learned that Stefani was staying at the Waldorf. Although Tilly had told me she was only staying for two nights, it turned into two weeks. I was more than aggravated. On the fifth night of her stay, I bumped into her. I was proud of myself for having avoided her for five whole days, but I knew I would somehow get cornered and see her. Maybel had been doing a fantastic job of hiding me, alerting me when she walked by, all that sort of stuff. It had been working, until the one day Maybel was sick and wasn't at the Waldorf. It just so happened to be the fifth night of Stefani's stay and I was forced to converse with the devil. Oh, I mean Stefani, my older sister.
 
I was working as a waitress that day. I was pouring drinks into glasses, and that is when I saw her. Well first, I heard her.
 
"Ex-yooz me! Hullow? Anybody here?" I could recognize her ugly voice anywhere. My trashy sister was infamous for getting into fights over little things and getting worked up about the most stupid things ever.
 
Unfortunately, I was the only waiter/waitress working that hour, so I had to face her. I didn't even pretend to be someone else to try to get someone to cover for me last minute.
 
"Yes? How may I be of your-"
 
"Okay, I ordered two apple pies like an hour ago! They weren't sent to my suite. What's up with that? Does anybody even work here?" she screamed without looking at my face.
 
I tried not to burst into laughter. "I'm sorry, but the bakery closes at 6 and it's close to 11 right now."
 
That's when she saw me. She stepped closer. "Jazzy?"
 
I didn't know what to say. So I remained silent.
 
"You /do/ work here! Emma wasn't lying! Hey, baby sister, give me a hug!" she ran and smothered me with hugs and kisses.
 
I was /not/ expecting that. At all.
 
"Get away from me," I said firmly.
 
"Oh, I forgot, you're probably still mad at me, huh?" she said stupidly with her stupid voice and her stupid facial expressions.
 
Oh, no! I forgave her! I'm not mad at her! Oh, why would I ever be mad at /her/?! MAYBE BECAUSE SHE RUINED MY LIFE, I wanted to say, but I didn't.
 
"What are you doing in New York? Aren't you on vacation with...L..Leo..?" I asked. Saying the name "Leo" felt so foreign on my tongue. It was like I wasn't talking about the Leo who married me and divorced me and left me, the one who eloped with my sister and had a child with her. No, not that one. Saying "Leo" now sounded like just another Leo walking down the street. A stranger. That's all Leo is to me now, anyway.
 
Stefani wasn't smiling or laughing like I'd expected. She looked down at her feet for a second before saying, "He...left me." she sighed loudly.
 
Was I shocked? No. Did I care? Just the slightest bit.
 
"No way! Really?!" I sarcastically asked.
 
She looked at me like it wasn't funny and it was inappropriate for me to be laughing. The same look she used to give me when we were younger and I had spilled one of her secrets to someone.
 
She rolled her eyes. "I guess you were right, Jaz. Once a cheater, always a cheater."
 
I scoffed. "So you still didn't answer my question. Why are you in New York?"
 
"I stole a bunch of his money and went back to Canada. Mom and Dad kicked me out, so I came here after I called Emma. She told me you lived out here with her and worked at the Waldorf. This place is fancy." she said, probably feeling sorry for herself.
 
"Where's the baby?"
 
"I was going to put him up for ad-option, but I kinda like him. He's cute." she replied, being her dumb self.
 
I cleared my throat. "When are you leaving?"
 
"Probably some time in January, till I can find a place to stay. I asked Emma if I could stay with her and you, but she said no. Oh, and she told me your boyfriend Harry moved out here too. Where is he?"
 
"Harry's not my boyfriend. And just so you know, I'm not talking to you again. Ever. You can leave." I said a little too loudly. I didn't care if anyone one else heard.
