"Happy 3 years and two months, my love," Keith said at the doorsteps as I opened the door. He was knelt down in a proposal manner with a rose in his hand, revealing his million watts smile.
I blushed and pulled him up. "Get up, hurry," I said as my cheeks were burning red.
Mrs. Porter from opposite was throwing out some rubbish as she saw us. She waved lightly and headed back in, probably to tell Penelope what she just witnessed. My mom will be giving me a lecture if she were to hear from Mrs. Porter that I just got proposed to. Oh gosh.
I took the rose over and smelt it. I smiled as I inhaled the sweet fragrance. "Thanks dear," I told him and gave him a quick peak on the cheek, but he took the chance and kissed me on the lips.
"That's better," he said and chuckled after he broke the kiss. "I miss you so much."
"I miss you, too," I replied.
We have been rather busy with examinations and barely got to spend time together. However, the term will be ending soon and I can't wait to spend the holidays with Keith, Jacquelyn and Troy.
He kissed my forehead. "Why don't you go back in, it's getting a little chilly," he said. "I'll get the food from the car and meet you inside."
"Sure," I replied and nodded, walking back in.
I placed the rose in a thin, long empty vase from the kitchen. I was looking for a suitable place to put the vase, but then I realised the perfect place was the little corner ay my bedroom window sill so placed it on the bar counter first.
Moments later, Keith came in with our lunch from Wannaburger. He placed the paper bags on the bar counter and took out a burger. "Your favourite grilled chicken and strawberry shake."
I sat down next to him. "Thank you," I replied and helped opened up the fries. "Did you get the garlic mayo dip for the fries?"
"Right here," he said and poured it out of the bag with his hot dog.
He nudged my side softly and smiled. "It's my favourite."
"I know," I told him and ate the fries dipped in garlic mayo. It is the best combo ever, and I never get sick of it.
He wrinkled his nose. "I don't think I want to kiss you after this."
I scoffed. "I'll brush my teeth," I said and took a sip of my shake.
He took his chocolate shake and said, "Not even the strawberry can help."
I slapped his arm playfully. "Then don't kiss me," I replied and took a bite of the burger. I closed my eyes to savour the grilled taste of the chicken before swallowing. It was absolutely delicious.
Suddenly, I felt something soft on my lips. "I will never not kiss you, Kat," he said as our lips were just a few centimetres away. "Even if you have garlic breath."
I giggled, opening my eyes and kissed him back, biting his lips a little before breaking the kiss. "Very tender."
"I hope you meant the chicken," he said and laughed.
I shrugged playfully. "I hope so, too."
He took his last bite of his food. Guys always eat so fast, they make me feel like a sloth eating. "So what do you want to do on this special day?"
"Stay in?" I suggested and looked at my super short shorts that is almost invisible under the huge grey t-shirt. "I'm a little lazy for adventure today."
He looked at me from head-to-toes and smirked at my long socks. "You look good even just like that," he said. "How is that even possible?"
I laughed. "You've got to be kidding me. Keith, this is not flattering. I'm only wearing this because it's comfortable and I'm at home."
He on the other hand was wearing his varsity jacket and a pair of really good looking jeans. He looked like a bloody Greek God right in front of me. Sometimes I wonder what on earth did I do to deserve someone as good as him. Besides the obvious good looks, he's sweet, charming, caring and smart; everything you want in a guy, he has them all. He's really the total package. I feel like I'm the luckiest girl in the world, or maybe just Edinburgh.
"You'll look good even if you're wearing beggar's clothes."
"You're only saying that to make me feel better. And because you're my boyfriend."
He shook his head. "No, I mean it," he replied and looked right at me. "Wait, is that my t-shirt?"
I nodded shyly and finished off my shake. "You left it here last year during the sleepover."
"And you didn't tell me it was here all along?"
"Because you didn't ask and it would be nice to have your clothes around whenever you're sleeping over right?" I told him.
The truth was, I wanted to have a piece of his clothing to wear around whenever I miss him. I was a little shy to ask, and he happened to left one behind.
He hesitated. "That sounds nice."
"Layla and mom bought some new DVDs yesterday," I said and got off the stool and started clearing the counter. "Why not you pick a movie to watch?"
He walked behind me slowly before passing me the paper bags. "They're not home?"
"Layla has an assignment to finish so she's staying over at a friend's," I replied and threw everything into the bin. "Mom won't be home till dinner so we have the whole place to ourselves."
As I turned around to face him, he decided to carry me and causing me to shriek. "Keith!"
He laughed as I slapped his back. "Suddenly the idea of watching movie and cuddling on the couch all day seems like a good idea."
"Put me down!" I yelled and laughed at the same time.
"As you wish me lady," he said and plopped me down onto the couch as I let out an "uff" sound.
I sat up crossed leg and opened up the coffee table drawer. "Here are the new movies."
"I'll let you pick."
I ran through the DVDs and found that they were mostly romance movies. I picked one and lifted it up to show him the cover. "What about this?"
He raised an eyebrow. "The Notebook?"
"I heard it was pretty good."
He nodded. "I heard about the reviews too, and Maya wouldn't stop talking about it."
I laughed. Maya, Keith's sister, is a fan of romantic films and she is rather judgmental of the romance quality of films of this genre. So, if she says it's good, it really is good. And if she would talk non-stop about it, it's a movie that is worth your money.
"This one it is then," I told him.
He took the DVD over and walked over to the player. While he was busy setting up the TV, I went to get us some drinks and shut the curtains before getting cosy on the couch.
Before I knew it, Keith was back at my side again. He slipped his arm at my waist to pull me closer and sniffed my neck. "Mmmm, you smell good."
The corner of my lips turned up as I wrapped my arms around his waist, snuggling my head on his shoulder. "I can't wait for the holidays, so I can spend more time with you."
He clicked the 'play' button on the remote control. "Me too," he said and kissed the top of my head.
