My Avó was diagnosed with breast cancer and was told she needed a mastectomy. After the surgery, my grandmother was then told she didn't actually have cancer and the mastectomy was unnecessary. This was in the 1960's Portugal when much less was known about the disease and misdiagnosis was much more common. I wear pink for my Avó, and for the advancing medicine that prevents mistakes like this.

Oh wow ~ that is a very sad story. Yes, thank goodness for all of the current detection advances we have available today.
